to complain to Burger King about this?

Had a BOGOF voucher, so off we trot and order 2 angus something or others, for £5.49 each. I come to pay and am told it is £6.49, when I questioned it the server said "Its a bit extra because of the voucher". I argued it but they refused to budge and clearly didnt see my point so I told them to keep it and went to Maccies! I only went to BK because of the voucher as I think they are too expensive for what you get.

Surely this isnt allowed? It says nowhere on the voucher that it will cost more, she couldnt show me any signage in the place that would indicate it either.

I am thinking of forwarding a copy of the voucher and a complaint to BK. Or is it probably not worth the hassle?

YADNBU. That is an outrageous.

TheMonster · 24/06/2012 16:58

How on earth does that work then? Does it say anything in the small print?

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 24/06/2012 16:58

Isn't it illegal to do that? I thought they were obliged to comply with the terms on the voucher. If it definitely doesn't say anything about the price going up wiht the voucher, then maybe send it off to trading standards (if you feel that strongly about it. I would, because I would be peeved, I love BK and can hardly ever afford one, so I'd be well pissed off)

SoupDragon · 24/06/2012 16:59

HOw much did you pay for your two cardboard McD burgers?

mummymeister · 24/06/2012 17:01

ring trading standards at your local council tomorrow. send them a full copy of the voucher by e mail so that they can see all the t's and c's. i would also e mail them and tell them that not only are you outraged but you have spread that outrage on mn and see what they do about it.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 24/06/2012 17:03

Yes Soupy has a good point, how much did your principles cost you? Grin

TheCraicDealer · 24/06/2012 17:03

Are Burger King a franchise? I know sometimes it says "in participating stores only" on a lot of promo stuff, and it's up to the owner if they want to participate. For example there's a Costa coffee near me that doesn't take loyalty cards. Cheapskates.

SoupDragon · 24/06/2012 17:05

It probably said "excluding special offers/meal deals" or similar on the voucher.

bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:10

less than £5.49!

I see what you mean about "in participating stores" but if they accept a voucher then surely they are agreeing to all the terms?

vouchers

OP posts:
bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:10

but it wasnt on special offer, it was the standard menu price.

McHappyPants2012 · 24/06/2012 17:13

What drink did you order with you meal, as often shakes you pay a little more.

Rather a BK to McDonald shit meal any day

WorraLiberty · 24/06/2012 17:17

14 posts and not one sanctimoniousness twat has said "YABU for eating at Burger King".

Could this be a record? Shock Grin

bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:18

I didnt, just ordered to BOGOF burgers.

I am amazed at that too Worra, I expected it to be the first reply actually :o

OP posts:
bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:18

two not to!

OP posts:
Dprince · 24/06/2012 17:20

the angus meals aren't a standard meal. They are extra, like a 'special' maybe that's why. I use the term 'special' lightly.

WorraLiberty · 24/06/2012 17:20

You would have been flame (grilled) by now if it wasn't Sunday. They're probably getting pissed in the pub Grin

bogeyface · 24/06/2012 17:28

They were on the standard menu, at a standard price. They did have an angus special, but that wasnt I ordered.

And Bollocks to 'em I can eat where the hell I like :o

Well said, Worra Grin

Actually we used that voucher on Friday night at a motorway service station and they honoured it (had to ask the manager though). We were a bit surprised.

APlanSoCunning · 24/06/2012 17:41

I happen to know my local Macs will happily honour vouchers from their competitors (BK, Chicken Cottage, etc.) in an effort to take away their business! Next time see if McDs will do you BOGOF Big Macs... :)

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 24/06/2012 17:48

Yes but the first poster to reply was me. I am just a bog standard twat, not a sanctimonious twat. Smile

SoupDragon · 24/06/2012 17:57

Did you order an Angus meal (i.e. chips plus drink) or just a burger?

ZillionChocolate · 24/06/2012 17:59

I don't understand why they would charge you an extra £1. I probably would complain to head office.
