Awww
Knock at the front door, a group of ds's pals from school who live round here asking if he is going out to play...

First time.

He is 8 nearly 9.
Growing up...my little chap!

DH just had a tear in his eye while telling him to watch the roads (there are no roads...PFB Smile)

Normally ds would potter off into the garage with dh on a Sunday to do stuff....

I am loving "watch the roads" (there are no roads)Grin

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 09:44

That's lovely. Bit controversial on MN but you could get him a cheapo mobilein order to call him back. Or are they just playing in the street?

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 09:48

Playing on the field next to the papershop, round the corner. 2 mins from the house.

Must man up Grin

Thats lovely , just has it should be

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 09:51

I must warn you that this is all very lovely when the weather is nice. But when it starts raining or when winter comes you may just have a living room full of nine year old boys on a regular basis. Grin I know, it happened to me. Grin

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 09:53

Damit!! didnt think about that! ahh well.

Its all normal and like you say..how it should be.

I LOVE being a mum, but these little milestones make me a bit Sad sadly!

It is lovely. I am pleased that DS2 has friends that call. It means they want to see him. There are lots of parents that have children and they would love for friends to knock the door.

Just brace yourself. DS1 (12) has friends that knock the door, then they walk to the station and go into town on the train. PFB-on the train! Grin

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 09:59

Ooh eck, ds just came in and told me its raining, they are all off to Sams house to play.........GrinGrin how DID you predict that sparklingbrook!!!!!

Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 10:00

Told you! Bet Sam's Mum is thrilled (is she even dressed?). You had better get ready for them all descending on you. Get the squash and biscuits ready! Grin

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 10:01

HOWL its raining and ds hasnt got his coat.....PFB MAN UP nosleep MAN UP!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 10:04

It's fine. They are all behaving themselves impeccably at Sam's house. Grin (How many of them are there)

fullofregrets · 24/06/2012 10:04

DS is just three and his friends (6, 8 and 11) have been calling for him for the last few months. They ride their bikes up and down our street.
But obviously I have to go and sit out there too which is a bit of a pain! Looking forward to when DS can play on his own!

Megatron · 24/06/2012 10:06

Awwwww sniff.

I let my PFB go up to the village shop for a 'wee sweetie' the other day. He's 8 and he was so chuffed. Instead of buying a wee sweetie, he bought the biggest bar of dairy milk he could find and sat in the garden stuffing his face like a pig in the proverbial. It felt like a wee milestone.

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 10:06

There are 4 of them....But i have a feeling that number will grow over the summer as ds discovers who from his class lives around about us.

Its a good thing its a good thing!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 10:08

It really is! Grin The summer will be fabulous for him-and you (weather depending). Grin

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 10:11

Im a bit relieved tbh as he is an only and so i think its dead mportant for him to have company.
This is company AND independance isnt it, double whammy.

He went on a sleep over at his pals a few weekends ago (1st ever)...and i still went up to his room to tuck him in a check on him....realised half way up the stairs that he wasnt there.

Im happy but sad!!

OP posts:
nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 10:13

Just to add...my plan for him was to never leave home...NEVER but he is a whirlwind handful so i fully expected prison for him, so visiting rights and all that.
No university or college or going to another town away from us GrinWink

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 10:24

Are you sure he's at Sam's house? Grin

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 10:24

Right, its been 20 minutes now.......the house is SO quiet...sob!

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 24/06/2012 10:27

He will be fine. i am more worried about Sam's Mum. Grin If it's stopped raining they have probably all gone back out.

nosleepwithworry · 24/06/2012 10:32

We have cracked open the emergency chocolate and DH keeps getting up and looking out of the window!

What knobheads we are !!
