Bit uncomfortable knowing everyone who is reading porn

All kinds of women on FB declaring how much they are loving 10 shades. I know lots don't like it. But I am feeling a bit weird knowing who, and how much some people are liking it. AIBU or should people keep their porn lit tastes to themselves?

CleoSmackYa · 24/06/2012 13:06

I judge these people more for reading a shit book. They're the same people (on my facebook at least) that constantly complain about how bad men are, and then wish for a Mr Grey (?????!!!!!)

Mrsjay · 24/06/2012 13:10

yes cleo going to bed with mr grey much better than him Confused although I've read the books so i can't comment on the content but it does sound pretty dire and when i had heard it was twilight fan fiction put me right off , cos bella and edwards relationship was so healthy eh Hmm

Mrsjay · 24/06/2012 13:10

I have not read them *

LowRegNumber · 24/06/2012 13:17

I think yabu to assume people are wanking over this stuff. It is totally different to reading a porn mag, I t is erotic fiction, not everyone wanks to it you know! I should imagine most people putting it in fb are not - unless they have form for posting their wank habits?

Tressy · 24/06/2012 13:20

Damn I am going to have to read this now. All this publicity and fb statuses have worked on me.

Mrsjay · 24/06/2012 13:22

Don't do it tressy don't fall for it Grin

OddBoots · 24/06/2012 13:27

What I want to know is what charity shops will do with the inevitable influx in a couple of weeks or months.

Mrsjay · 24/06/2012 13:29

hopefully burn them oddboots can imagine the old ladies in the charity shop taking mr grey home Wink

McHappyPants2012 · 24/06/2012 13:30

Store them lol and then when the film is realised they will sell fast

StellaAndFries · 24/06/2012 13:30

I've read it and it didn't make me want to wank, it just made me depressed!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 24/06/2012 13:49

I was on the tube, looking over and - no lies - the first line of the top left-hand page was:

'Oh ... you're so masterful!'

Grin

How, how can you not be laughing at yourself as you read?!

monkeymoma · 24/06/2012 13:52

table of women were loudly discussing the books right behind DS in a cafe yesterday :-S

I've only heard clips but it sounds too cheesy and annoying for me, all that "holy cow" stuff! I think I'ld be too irritated by that stuff to get anything else out of it!

Mia4 · 24/06/2012 14:31

I think it's exciting to a lot of people who don't read smut and don't (or don't admit to) masturbate. Kind of like a taboo thing. One of my friends posts all about it, yet ironically when we were debating kinks she stated that they were all 'freaky and weird'. Yet she will go on and on about fifty shades.

Also from my sister and her mates, they seem to think it makes them racier and kinkier somehow and think it's something to shout about. I just ignore it all, getting very tired of the hype of it all and people trying to convince me i should like it.

At least the one good thing is that it is showing women have a sexual side and highlights female masturbation-taking the stigma and taboo away a bit.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 24/06/2012 14:46

A friend of mine just posted a picture of herself with a load of paint colour choice cards and said "I tried 50 shades of Grey but I can't see what all the fuss is about" Grin

CleoSmackYa · 24/06/2012 14:47

I'm getting so friggin' tempted.

Mrsjay · 24/06/2012 17:43

Grin pom

OwlsOnStrings · 24/06/2012 17:49

Any extracts I've seen have been laughably bad rather than erotic. Like others, I'm a bit torn - it's bringing women's sexuality for themselves, rather than their "sexiness" to others, into mainstream awareness. But there's a fine line between hiding one's sexuality away and effectively announcing on FB that you're off for a wank, so I'd say YANBU.
