Bit uncomfortable knowing everyone who is reading porn

LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 24/06/2012 09:36

All kinds of women on FB declaring how much they are loving 10 shades. I know lots don't like it. But I am feeling a bit weird knowing who, and how much some people are liking it. AIBU or should people keep their porn lit tastes to themselves?

"I prefer to read book" - I usually prefer to write in standard English too, :)

LST · 24/06/2012 10:47

Unloved twilight too. I think I'm going to enjoy it Grin

ripsishere · 24/06/2012 10:52

I was in the company of a group of women yesterday all raving about it. One, calmly and rationally stated that she'd cracked two off while reading it.
That, in my opinion is worse than the FB updates.

LST · 24/06/2012 10:54

I loved not unloved

picnicbasketcase · 24/06/2012 10:54

I can't believe anyone would it wank-over-able tbh. All the mentions of red bum cheeks and foil packets are really off putting.

JayelleBee · 24/06/2012 10:55

Don't know what the fuss is about it sounds like a pile of old wank to me

MammaTJ · 24/06/2012 10:57

YANBU, but I think they are posting to show they are reading the very latest must read book!

I never do as I cannot afford to keep myself in new books and only buy them from charity shops and car boot fairs.

TheJoyfulPuddlejumper- quite a few of my friends have posted exactly the same status.

ToryLovell · 24/06/2012 11:44

Joyful - please do Grin

Firawla · 24/06/2012 11:48

omg!! I have heard everyone mentioning this, had no idea it was porn. I thought it was just a popular book series like twilight Confused

DilysPrice · 24/06/2012 11:49

I'm sure there'll be thousands of copies of the pb cluttering up the charity shop any moment now, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable buying someone else's second-hand porn - it seems slightly grubby IYSWIM. AIBU?

(not that I fancy reading it anyway)

McHappyPants2012 · 24/06/2012 11:56

i don't see it as porn TBH, these are characters in a book not real people.

Dilys just avoid the ones with the pages stuck together....

McHappyPants2012 · 24/06/2012 12:11

technically it is soft porn, however page 3 girls are also soft porn also the scence on titanic where kate is being painted nude is softporn, there is also porn in art museums.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/06/2012 12:13

Do men find 50 shades titillating?

madhairday · 24/06/2012 12:14

This makes me feel weird too, some of my FB friends are mentioning it daily, one today saying 'I'm putting silver balls on my xmas list' and one replying 'I need therapy, get Dr Flynn', one then saying 'I eat, sleep and dream Christian' etc etc etc. It's just......

By all accounts it is utter shite, and I can't be bothered with it.

squeakytoy · 24/06/2012 12:15

it isnt porn! but it is very boring seeing all the sheep I seem to know having it on their status..

MrsHelsBels74 · 24/06/2012 12:19

I think lots of people are making a big deal of it to show how 'enlightened' they are. To be honest there was nothing in the book that made me feel like having a wank, it was about as erotic as the phone directory.

I wouldn't want to post that I was reading porn though, but really didn't see 50 shades as porn, just a badly written attempt at erotica.

Sassybeast · 24/06/2012 12:19

I still think it's some massive social experiment and all the fools who have bought it are the 'victims' of some ploy to see how influential social networking sites can be.

LittleSugaPlum · 24/06/2012 12:24

I have read statuses on facebook about "loving 50 shades of grey."

I had no idea what this book was, didnt think to ask anyone until i ve just seen it on here.

So is this an actually porn book? If it is, why are people dragging about reading it? :-/

It isnt a "porn" book, it is very badly written repetetive "erotic" fiction, and no more explicit than a Jackie Collins book..

I read them months ago, because they were cheap and I wanted to know what all the hype was about then.. I passed them on to my (adult) stepdaughter and she enjoyed them, but I thought they could have been a lot better. I didnt know they were based on fanfiction of Twilight, but having never read or watched Twilight that would make much difference to me anyway.

Empusa · 24/06/2012 12:29
