To refuse to feel guilty that I have hurt DD's teddy bears feelings?

By failing to give him an invite to my birthday party? Surely I can invite who I like to MY party and those not invited should not be sobbing furry tears into their little jumpers and demanding extra honey to stave off their sad unhappy feelings?

Loving your work, HD!

JoannaFight · 23/06/2012 19:46

There's nothing worse than everyone in the house but one bear being invited. How could you? I hope you didn't hand out invitations in from of him.

Grin The YD refuses to eat sausages, pork, ham or bacon in case it upsets Piglet.... (small toy version thereof)
TodaysAGoodDay · 23/06/2012 19:55

They could also serve strawbearys Grin

SillyBeardyBatman · 23/06/2012 19:57

If this had upset your dc then it's a bear necessity to invite teddy.

Is this a reverse AIBU? Hmm

Or maybe the poor bear is posting an AIBU on BearNet right now. Poor little thing. :(

DashingRedhead · 23/06/2012 20:10

OP, my DH says we should be asking you how you're bearing up?

BigFatCushion · 23/06/2012 20:21

Can you just say the invite was in the bear's book bag all along?

It'll save everyone's feelings and you look like the better person?

Itsgottabebags · 23/06/2012 20:33

You are just going to have to grin and bear it and invite the teddy.

DashingRedhead · 23/06/2012 21:23

What do you think they post on BearNet? AIBU to be sick of fucking picnics? I think Baby Bear is developing OCD; he's become obsessed with having everything 'just right'?

TheVermiciousKnid · 23/06/2012 21:52

Yes, those are common topics on BearNet AIBU. Other frequent ones are:

'AIBU to not always want to shit in the woods?'
'AIBU to want a build-a-human workshop for my DC?'

'AIBU to get absolutely livid with humans parking in the bear and cup parking spaces?'

maddening · 23/06/2012 21:58

it comes, said pooh, from being rather tubby

TodaysAGoodDay · 23/06/2012 21:59

AIBU to ask for honey every day?

lovebunny · 23/06/2012 22:01

how do you know you've hurt his feelings? does he bear a grudge? is he like a bear with a sore head? can't he bear it? are you discriminating against bears? did you leave this bear behind?

ontheedgeofwhatever · 23/06/2012 22:09

He's retired to his cave and is lying in DD's arms growling gently in his sleep :) Sleep tight little bear and tomorrow we'll go on a bear hunt and a lovely picnic and of course you can come to my party just don't tell the monsters still no idea what to feed them

TheCunnyFunt · 23/06/2012 23:05

Bear and cup parkIng?

TheVermiciousKnid · 24/06/2012 08:20

Bear and cup parkIng?

Oops. Grin

You know, for all those bears who carry heavy tea cups around with them.

Of course, there is also bear and cub parking. :)

nickelbarapasaurus · 25/06/2012 11:04

I think you know YABU.

cruel and heartless mummy.

I'm glad you've seen your error and have decided to send him an invitation.

I can't believe you would leave a member of the family out of your birthday party!

Pandemoniaa · 25/06/2012 11:13

Best not to get on the wrong side of these teddies. Nobody likes to be chased out of the woods with a bear behind, do they?

stealthsquiggle · 25/06/2012 11:14

All animals in this house eat imaginary food produced either from DD's kitchen or by the monster in the cupboard in DS's room. If they wanted to come to my party then their people would be expected to provide food. Which seems mean, now I come to think of it, but I'm not backing down.

We have had major sulks about a jungle party and a dragon party from animals who didn't "qualify" though - I had to have the "not everyone can go to every party" conversation - but in my defence it was never more than half of the total animal population who were invited - so no left-out minorities.

piprabbit · 25/06/2012 11:18

Don't tell anyone, but I buy Mini Battenbergs and Mini Swiss rolls, slice them up and arrange them on teeny plates for the toys' tea parties. I also make tiny sandwiches.
DD is outgrowing this, but DS still thinks it is fab.

shewhowines · 25/06/2012 11:25

This is a particular bug bear of my DD.

Personally I think you only need to provide the bear necessities at the party regardless of who is invited.
