Young Earth Creationists? Really believe it? Really?

Cant believe that anyone actually thinks that the earth was created by a god 6000 years ago!

I have to agree with Richard Dawkins who said they are either ignorant, stupid or insane.

If you do believe it, explain dinosaurs!

We have creatonists in our family (church of god) they home school, and even when they socialise they see a very narrow group so as not to pollute their kids. We rarely get to see them... we are clearly a bad influence....

That's so sad. Is their God so small or their faith so flimsy that they can't risk exposing their kids to any other ideas?

Quite right Grimma - if your faith in something is so strong why would you find any discussion of it or exposure to other ideas so difficult? Unless of course you know deep down that your beliefs do not stand up to scrutiny.

Stressed - I think if you ever had to excavate a medieval latrine you could well become convinced that archaeology is the devil's work!

Sciencelover, I seldom take part in it anymore. After the episode where I was told that I wasn't Christian because I advised a young mum to leave her husband because he was repeatedly abusing her, I had just about as much as I could stomach. Most of the other women were telling her to be more godly and submissive and to pray that God would make her more the wife that her husband needed her to be. There are perhaps 2 or 3 (at the most) women who have the same sort of outlook as I do, other than that they are all YEC fundies. I only stay on it so that the couple of other women feel that they are not alone.
