Oh for heaven's sake! Part of the joy of literature and creative writing is the opportunity to explore alternative realities safely, without having to actually undergo the experience. Are you going to prevent teenagers from studying Romeo and Juliet because it depicts teen suicide? I struggle to recall a single literary text I have ever taught that doesn't have the potential to upset a student. And exercises like that referred to in the OP are a valuable tool in a deeper reading of the text.
I produced a Punch and Judy pantomime with 12-year-olds some years ago and at the dress rehearsal, the Head made us take out the scene where Punch is hanged for his crimes in case it would upset any of the parents
I have since retired from producing shows, for that very reason.
