on forms when there is a Religion or Faith box and people put none.

No faith.

Realy?

No faith in anything?

It makes me feel sad for them. How empty and meaningless and small they must feel. Poor things.

Why is the Green lantern defeated by yellow?

Is the Green Lantern supernatural or paranormal?

GrimmaTheNome · 21/06/2012 15:31

Barbaric and misogynist at the same time.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 21/06/2012 15:32

Everyone has to have a weakness or the comic would be over in a single page.

As for super/para he was given an ring by aliens that works on the basis of will and imagination. Erm. So, err, technological I guess...

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 21/06/2012 15:33

Misogynist? Does the green Lantern hate women? Or is that God?

GrimmaTheNome · 21/06/2012 15:35

Slow posting... that was the Islamic 'justice' as a spectator sport I was referring to.

GrimmaTheNome · 21/06/2012 15:36

I don't know anything about The Green Lantern and it bugs me whenever there's a reference to it in The Big Bang Theory.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 21/06/2012 15:38

Erm, alien ring, green suit, afraid of yellow... That's about it really!

CaramelTree · 21/06/2012 15:38

What I meant was, is there some kind of backstory as to why yellow causes him problems?

FioFio · 21/06/2012 15:40

I have no faith but I had the most disturbing dream last night about Beelzebub and Lazarus last night

CaramelTree · 21/06/2012 15:45

I had a dream where I died and met Jesus. He told me I was going to die in 2028 and was going to spend all eternity in the Clachaig Inn.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 21/06/2012 15:46

Was originally a fault in the ring manufacture (made in taiwan?), but then...

In Green Lantern: Rebirth, writer Geoff Johns revealed that the "yellow impurity" was the result of Parallax, a yellow energy being made of pure fear, which had been imprisoned in the Central Power Battery. This change to the fictional history also allowed characters to overcome the yellow weakness by recognizing the fear behind it and facing that fear.

AWimbaWay · 21/06/2012 15:49

All I know about The Green Lantern is Ryan Reynolds is rather lovely.

MrsHelsBels74 · 21/06/2012 16:04

Oh no, Ryan Reynolds has one of those faces I just itch to slap!

If I had faith would I feel less violent?

FioFio · 21/06/2012 16:04

I said last night twice as i am deeply disturbed

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 21/06/2012 16:22

hels if he's a good Christian he'll turn the other cheek. That way you get to slap both sides Wink

I believe in a thing called love,
I believe I can fly,
I believe that children are our future,
I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows,
I believe in angels
And of course, I believe in miracles since you came along, you sexy thing.

Latara · 22/06/2012 01:58

Just tick all the boxes. Then you get to celebrate long weekends (well, aren't Friday, Saturday & Sunday all religious days to various religions?). Plus have to take time off to celebrate all the entire world's religious holidays.
Plus get into heaven if heaven exists of whatever religion happens to be right, if any is.
A win-win situation i think :)

PooPooInMyToes · 22/06/2012 20:02

I like Green Arrow.

MrsHelsBels74 · 22/06/2012 20:30

Latara have you never read Small Gods by Terry Pratchett....they take a very dim view of people who believe only because they think there's nothing to lose Grin

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 22/06/2012 20:35

poopoo you radicalist!

PooPooInMyToes · 22/06/2012 20:54

I like his liberal agenda, particularly on his road trip with Hal and Ganthet.

Grin
SillyBeardyDaddyman · 22/06/2012 21:02

I must confess at this point that I'm more of a Batman fan. I like his shiny gadgets and grim brand of justice.

He'd tick the no faith box and mean it.

And then punch it in the face.

PooPooInMyToes · 22/06/2012 21:21

Hmm batmans good but i like the Jim Aparo 70s wacky version rather than the iron age dark avenger crying out for mummy and daddy.

oiwheresthecoffee · 22/06/2012 21:22

I feel sorry for people daft enough to believe in god/unicorns/faires/the undead/zombies/vampire/ghosts or other supernatural rubbish.
