I really have got Purple Hair!! Bright Purple!!
Grin
It's my fringe, I was going to see a band and thought I would look good with a bright fringe. As my hair is bleached blonde/white the colour took rather well. Wink
DP is a darling and just rolled her eyes, in fact the comments were positive apart from my gardening friend who said, "What the bloody hell have you done to your hair!!"
I like it especially as it's fading and looks just like the colour of my fave sweetpeas!!

In the past I have had Russ Abbot hair from too many dyes, green hair, maroon hair...none of these on purpose! Blush

There's a green hair dye on my shelf, is it too late to experiment?

Colour stripper will only take your hair back to the natural colour if you haven't used permanent dyes with pre-lighteners in them, which a lot of them have. For example if you have dyed your hair with a red toned permanent dye, chance are it will lighten your hair before the red dye takes hold (in simple terms). Then when you strip it out, it only takes out most of the red colour molecules and leaves a delightful nuclear orange affect most of the time.

I'm currently trying to bleach out permanent red, rather than strip it out. Strippers do not have peroxide in them but they do dry your hair out MASSIVELY I had gorgeous bleached white hair and I decided to go red which I regret massively. At the moment I now have pale yellow roots and tips with a ginger tinge in the mid lengths.

I'll get back to white though, it's just taking me a while. I'd rather do it in stages than create the magic bubble-gum effect of too much bleaching.

You could try doing a bleach bath rather than a full bleach if you're just getting remnants of colour out and don't mind being blonde. You make up a small amount of bleach and mix it with an equal amount of shampoo, then you lather up, leave for 10-15 minutes and wash out. You may need to do it a few times but it's much safer and more gentle than doing a full bleach.
