Worst is "baby" rather than "the baby" (I'm with you there Jules), makes me punchy as well as stabby.

I call my DCs no end of rubbish, but the key point is, this is MN, and we must observe protocol.

Standards, people, standards.

I think personal nicknames that happen organically are lovely but when it's something everybody says I just don't get it, it's not affectionate or intimate then. Your just saying hubby or lil man etc cos other people say it but my friend calling her dd yoyo happened naturally.

Hate Hate HATE(!!!) hearing/seeing children being refered to as sexy. A relative calls her son "sexy lil man" in EVERY Facebook status. It makes me silently fume everytime

Soneone talking about there 'lil man' and I would think they were talking about their love-length.

Well, ,they’re better than what a little girl at the nursery where a friend worked, said her mother called her.
Friend had been asking the kids about pet names - they came back with e.g. ‘Mummy’s little soldier’, ‘My little Cuddles’ etc.

But this little kid said, ‘You little cow! Mummy says, ‘ You little cow!’ 😥
