To think the Camerons don't really deserve the bollocking they're receiving

Never ever ever thought I'd be on his side btw! But it was a mistake ..they thought she was with each other, no harm came to his DD! She's absolutely fine and mistakes happen! There's enough "I'm a shit parent threads" on here to prove that its hardly unusual

And yes I know he's in charge of the country but bot sure it has much to do with it Tbh

Awaits flaming

I never in a million years thought I'd be defending the Camerons, but I have been eyerolling my way through the 'news' reports about this.

People are shit-stirring about absolutely nothing here.

--After all he's done plenty of properly loathsome things to focus on.--

picnicbasketcase · 11/06/2012 19:15

I think it's an utterly twatty thing to do, but only because it's him. Anyone else I'd think 'hey, accidents happen.'

sue52 · 11/06/2012 19:15

Storm in a teacup. The daughter was 8 and will enjoy tormenting her parents about it for years.

AuntieMaggie · 11/06/2012 19:20

The difference is most of you aren't running the country so your dc aren't worth much in the eyes of those that would love to get their hands on the pms dc.

However I do agree not just the camerons are to blame - there was a breakdown in communication and security amongst those there.

Bue · 11/06/2012 19:26

I'm not sure that the Cameron kids are really at great risk of kidnap, particularly from a country pub in Oxfordshire. They don't get any sort of protection at school either.

TuesdayNightClub · 11/06/2012 19:27

YANBU. I'm amazed that this is treated as news and amazed at the battering they are getting by the public. Confused

alana39 · 11/06/2012 19:28

YANBU. Incidentally the other thread on this does have s mixture of views.

He is a tosser but this is a distraction from much more important stories.

CwtchesAndCuddles · 11/06/2012 19:28

I dislike him but in no way does he deserve this - I actually feel sorry for him. If one of us were to do this no one who wasn't there would know or care but because he's the PM it becomes world news!

hackmum · 11/06/2012 19:30

YANBU. It's a non-story. I think the Sun ran the story today to take attention away from Gordon Brown's appearance at Leveson.

SauvignonBlanche · 11/06/2012 19:30

Just seen the C4 coverage.
Whilst I can think of literally thousands of reasons to hate DC, this isn't one of them.

TheFallenMadonna · 11/06/2012 19:32

Are they being slated? On Radio 4, it's all humour and tales of similar forgetfulness.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 11/06/2012 19:33

YANBU.... Just shows he is consistently feckless and scatty whether at work or at home Grin

lalaland3008 · 11/06/2012 19:35

Another one who never thought I'd be defending DC, but this isn't even newsworthy.

He should be slated for his policies not his parenting.

crazynanna · 11/06/2012 19:37

I hate him too, but this shit happens.

It happened to me (not in the pub, but at the shop 20 yrs ago)

animula · 11/06/2012 19:37

I've only been listening to R4 and the coverage there is basically that it's a bit of a light relief, non-news story, and distraction from gloom news: immigration changes, employment changes, Euro-catastrophe ... . Haven't heard any slating ... . Maybe I need to get out a bit more.

Heard Justine on Women's Hour, though. Thought she was, as always, good. Though I do prefer Jenni Murray as a presenter.

TuesdayNightClub · 11/06/2012 19:38

TheFallenMadonna most of the media coverage I have seen/heard has been sympathetic, it's the public (mn, my facebook and twitter) that seem to be outraged, disgusted and generally descending into a moral panic...

BlackOutTheSun · 11/06/2012 19:39

YABU

Most other parents are not spending tax money to one of their best mate to hand out vouchers for parenting classes. On the same day as Eric fucking Pickles is talking crap about troubled families.

DC had a couple of glasses of wine then left his dd, is he being classed as one of these 'families' bollocks is he

noddyholder · 11/06/2012 19:40

At least he took his kids with him.

MarySA · 11/06/2012 19:40

It did cross my mind that it was a ruse to take the attention away from this enquiry today. But I'm your original conspiracy theorist.

HandMadeTail · 11/06/2012 19:41

It's something that might happen to anyone.

I don't think it's got anything to do with his ability to screw up the economy.

animula · 11/06/2012 19:48

with FallenMadonna. Smile

OliviaLMumsnet · 11/06/2012 19:48

Hi OP
Have removed your double thread title and amended your typo

HTH

EllenParsons · 11/06/2012 19:54

YANBU I agree with you

If anything, the body guards should have been responsible for checking everyone was present, but thinking the child is with the other parent is an understandable mistake to make and no harm came to their DD, she was in a same environment alone for a few minutes, it's really not a massive deal IMO!

ethelb · 11/06/2012 19:55

just to add a different perspective, my parents, with three children one of them young and still needing to be wrestled into a car seat stage like the Camerons - packed the car, locked the door and sped off down the road. They relaised 10 minutes later, just as well as they were about to drive an hour away. They did the same with my little sister a few years later too!

JustFab · 11/06/2012 19:56

Just saw KatieMumsnet on the news!!

You did good. And very nicely dressed. And smiley.
