Is it unreasonable to start fancying someone you've never found attractive...

...because you had a saucy dream about them?!

Am I the only person this has happened to? Most recent example was last night. I've just remembered the dream because of a reference in another thread.

In my dream, Hugh Grant took me by private jet to his house on the Isle of Man (no idea if he has a house on the Isle of Man, nor why the Isle of Man, a place I have no connection to whatsoever, featured) and was trying to seduce me but I was spurning his advances because I'm married.

I have never ever previously found HG remotely attractive and think he comes across as very slimy and arrogant but my flashbacks to the dream have made me come over all unneccessary!

Has this happened to anyone else or AIBU to allow my dreams to affect me like this?!

I had a sexy dream about Harry Potter. We were so in love and he let me call him Dan and took me to tea with the Weasleys. It felt v pervy.

Lueji · 08/06/2012 21:08

Outraged, you mean Seaman? :o
You could argue that it fits perfectly in a wet dream. Wink

MardyBra · 08/06/2012 21:08

YANBU. I had a dream that I had sex with Ken Stott (fat, old, curly haired scottish actor guy) Wanted to scrub myself afterwards but when I see him on TV, I go a bit weird, like, 'Urgh, he's disgusting' but also 'Mmmmm KEN!'

fallenangle · 08/06/2012 21:36

cupcake I'm sure he knew how to wield his dibber, did you get a look at his hollyhocks?

LentillyFart · 08/06/2012 21:38

I feel so much better knowing I am not alone in this world with the Gordon Brown thing. It was really rather graphically sexual as well. Lots of squelching. Oh I love MN - I've never been able to admit that bit before.

I had a dream which involved Joe Cornish talking to me, and am now reminded of the dream whenever I listen to old Adam & Joe podcasts. I didn't realise I fancied him before the dream but now his voice makes me wobbly.

Cloudbase · 08/06/2012 22:56

Oh God, I can't believe I'm typing this, but I once had a dream I was having an illicit affair with David Cameron

It took in my old school where he was doing some sort of talk, and he was married to Ffion Hague and we kept 'bumping into' each other and exchanging coy yet passionate glances. It all made perfect sense at the time.

When I think about it now, it makes me feel seriously nauseous and a bit skin crawly Confused

skybluepearl · 08/06/2012 23:36

Meat Loaf! Say no more ...

WhatWouldJoanJettDo · 09/06/2012 11:54

Huey Lewis and Sammy Hagar ( thankfully, these were two separate dreams). I'm still traumatised, but feeling much better that Gordon Brown has never shown up.

winkle2 · 09/06/2012 12:18

Happened to me about Michael Moon from eastenders!

GiserableMitt · 09/06/2012 15:23

Yes, but it wasn't someone famous but someone I knew well and wouldn't have looked at twice.
It's horrible because I look looked at him in a different way after that dream Blush

wouldn't do anything about it, it all stayed firmly in my slightly wonky head.

ComposHat · 09/06/2012 15:29

I once had a saucy dream about a work colleague whim I'd never found attractive in the slightest and now I can't look at them without going crimson.

SecretDreams · 09/06/2012 21:25

Oooo. This thread is right up my street.

About 6 months ago I had a very 'intimate' dream about a work colleague who I have known for about 6 years, always got on well with but never been attracted to in that way before.

The dream was one of those ones that is incredibly realistic, you know where you wake up and really can't believe that it didn't actually happen?

Now usually, this feeling starts to fade after a couple of hours. A day at the most. Not this one. It lasted for about a week, and just as the feeling was starting to fade, I had the dream again.

By this stage, I think I was starting to act a bit 'differently' towards this bloke. I was suddenly seeing him in a whole new light!

I went on to have the dream a third time, in the space of about a month. By now, I couldn't hide from the feeling anymore and I was flirting outrageously in the office!

As I started paying him more attention, I got to know him a lot better and realised that personality-wise he was perfect for me and I was (very slowly and gradually) falling in love.

Luckily, he was delighted with the attention I was giving him and we've been together now about 4 months.

I would never have looked twice at him if it hadn't been for 'that' dream, so was somebody, somewhere trying to tell me something or what?!?!? I can't imagine ever being without him now.
