Aibu to tell my dd that she can't have her nose pierced unless she pays for it

DD is 16, soon to be 17 and wants her nose pierced! I have said I don't like but I can't stop her but I don't want her to use my ones to pay for it. AIBU to make her get a job first in order to pay for it....I know jobs aren't that easy to come by but she doesn't seem to make much effort so I thought the idea about the nose might encourage her further.... I have told her if she uses money I have given her then she won't get another pennny from me...so no trips to nandos after college with the mates and no make up.

I don't understand the big deal with it all. It's not like makeup, that sexualises them.

Aha my Dad absolutely hated my nose piercing, although probably because I came home with it all bloody and raw (ick!). He told me I'd never get a job with 'that thing' in my nose. Next day I had an interview and was offered my first Saturday job!

But if she goes alone I think she'll need to be 18 (not entirely sure, she should probably check, and as MsElisa says, a lot of places probably wouldn't bother IDing). If you don't agree with it she should fund it herself, but certainly make sure she goes somewhere hygienic. Mine fell out in my sleep a few years ago, and you'd honestly never know I had a nose piercing unless you got really close!

She will forget it's there when she first gets it done though. I remember weeping in pain when washing my make up off and catching it! Owwww.
