I loved it. Me, my DH our friends and family have all had a fab time. We called time this morning to give us all time to get ready for work etc again, but it was fab.

I'm not really a fan of the Royal family, but I do feel they define England and give it a USP it would otherwise not have to the rest of the world... I think the Queen deserves a little respect at what she undertook and continues to undertake.

I think all of the celebrations have gone off amazingly well and I know that my kids will remember this weekend for the rest of their lives (just as I remember 1977).

Bedtime tonight was horrific because since Friday, routines and rules have been abolished. But it's a small price to pay for a lovely, lovely weekend with good friends and family (plus making lots of new friends too!)

I, for one, say hats off to you, you Maj, I've really really enjoyed it.

There's a bit in the Gary Barlow song that sounds like C'est la Vie by B'witched Grin Couldn't listen without hearing "What are yer loike?"

ViviPru · 05/06/2012 23:07

I'm actually cheered by this thread and glad you enjoyed it Crown

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 05/06/2012 23:10
Sad

Those of you who live in places without flags and bunting can all come and stay with me for the platinum jubilee, and I will drag you into London to overdose on red, white and blue! Grin Crown

SwedishEdith · 05/06/2012 23:10

Oh, not much bunting here either. Suspect there will be more if England win a few football matches. Jubilee has all felt a bit remote and as though it's happening elsewhere.

scotlass · 05/06/2012 23:22

Well it started off a bit of a non event here but slowly over the weekend it gained momentum and by today the DC and I were all dressed in red, white and blue at a tea party.

Last time I dressed like that was charles and Di's wedding I was about 10.

We take for granted our freedom here I think so it was nice for the country to stop and take stock

busymummy3 · 05/06/2012 23:22

Exactly SwedishEdith glad I'm not the only one !

enimmead · 05/06/2012 23:29

It was quite good to watch the pageant and the concert.
It was great following it on MN :)

And I'm sure it won't be blamed when the economic figures are published showing a decline in consumer spending or GDP :)

Unless a lot of bunting was bought :)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 05/06/2012 23:29

I think I was misunderstood. I was picking up on the fact that you mentioned England quite categorically, whereas she is Queen of three other home nations as well, four if you count Cornwall (which they did on the barge, did anyone else notice that?)

AmIthatbad · 05/06/2012 23:59

I understood Ariel and I agree Grin

TenMinutesLate · 06/06/2012 00:06

I have loved it all, so have the kids but very bizarrely so has DP! Our street party was a brilliant brilliant day and just watching the bunting from my window now is making me well up....(I am due on so take that with a pinch of salt!)

My DD (5) loved the wedding last year and now this, I'm so happy she is going to have these lovely memories. DS (almost 3) will probably remember not a squat but the sugar rush will be sure to live on for at least a week....(so pleased its not just our family who have thrown the rule book out this weekend....."yes DD its 9.30pm, please play in the road, and take this cupcake with you....!"

ladymariner · 06/06/2012 00:28

Loved loved loved it! Xxx

worrywortisworrying · 06/06/2012 07:45

Blush sorry ariel

I hope all the people of Scotland, Wales, northern ireland, Cornwall and all the other nations that have the queen as their head of state, even the ones who want to be republics and all the tourists who come from countries who don't have the queen as their heAd of state ALL had a fab time Grin

tenminuteslate I think our kids thought we'd taken leave of our senses. Bedtime last night was payback time Grin and they are still asleep now!

Had a fantastic weekend. Love all things royal anyway and think they did the whole thing wonderfully

What i liked about the jubilee was the 4 day weekemd. The other good thing was that there was so little of it around, if you turned the TV off.

halcyondays · 06/06/2012 09:01

Yanbu I've loved every minute of itCrown

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 06/06/2012 09:46

There worry, you have it covered I think?

Did you remember Pitcairn Island?

PandaWatch · 06/06/2012 10:39

Didn't think I would but I loved it and watched way more than I thought I would. Dancing around our lounge to Stevie Wonder (pointedly ignoring the presence of Will I Am) with Pimms in hand after a massive bbq was a highlight Grin

As for non-UK/Commonwealth people not celebrating, I don't think I came across anyone more enthusiastic than my Yemeni FiL!

worrywortisworrying · 06/06/2012 13:26

Feck.... I forgot Pitcairn Island....

Hope the 50 or so people on Pitcairn Island had a fabulous time Grin

I feel your pain OP!!!
But mine too actually slept till gone 7.30......hurrah!!!

empirestateofmind · 06/06/2012 14:10

I think Gary Barlow and the BBC organised a fabulous concert. Loved every minute of it.

There is plenty of bunting here and lots of events as Singapore has a big and patriotic British expat crowd.

ash6605 · 06/06/2012 14:14

I had so much planned for this weekend and would love to be sharing joyous memories with you but DD broke her foot on Friday, spent most of the day in A&E then the rest of the weekend I've been laid up in bed with tonsilitis so all parties and plans we made were abolished Sad

usualsuspect · 06/06/2012 14:16

Just when I though MN was safe from all things Jubilee...

FayeGovan · 06/06/2012 22:56

nah its still being rehashed over and over
