I loved it. Me, my DH our friends and family have all had a fab time. We called time this morning to give us all time to get ready for work etc again, but it was fab.

I'm not really a fan of the Royal family, but I do feel they define England and give it a USP it would otherwise not have to the rest of the world... I think the Queen deserves a little respect at what she undertook and continues to undertake.

I think all of the celebrations have gone off amazingly well and I know that my kids will remember this weekend for the rest of their lives (just as I remember 1977).

Bedtime tonight was horrific because since Friday, routines and rules have been abolished. But it's a small price to pay for a lovely, lovely weekend with good friends and family (plus making lots of new friends too!)

I, for one, say hats off to you, you Maj, I've really really enjoyed it.

See post above. I was in a mood.

So again, glad you had a good time. I wish I had done more fun stuff, but our village doesn't roll like that I had to work. Probably why I was snippy :)

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 05/06/2012 22:22

AND I had to work FFS.

Time for bed I think...

NorksAreMessy · 05/06/2012 22:23

CrownCrownCrownCrownCrown

absolutely loved it all and devoured every tiny morsel.
Even teenage Dc watched river pageant and concert with DH and me and we all loved it.
Family are used to me being mad monarchist, but they got into the spirit as well.
Brilliant organization and Gary Barlow needs a knighthood.

Loved it :)

StellaAndFries · 05/06/2012 22:25

I've loved it, our village organised an event for every day from Saturday, it's been busy but lovely :)

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 05/06/2012 22:29

DS learnt the national anthem at school and has been singing it at every opportunity

DD (23m) now joins in - she only has a few of the words but she has it note perfect!

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 05/06/2012 22:31

I think we will get a platinum jubilee, but I reckon the next reason to visit the palace with a flag will be to meet the new baby. Grin

FayeGovan · 05/06/2012 22:36

op, your post sums up why most Scots feel blah about the jubilee

"I'm not really a fan of the Royal family, but I do feel they define England and give it a USP it would otherwise not have to the rest of the world"

guess what, she's queen of more than England

CrispyCod · 05/06/2012 22:36

Outraged a platinum Jubilee would be so amazing wouldn't it?!

You know, I wasn't keen on that song Gary and Lloyd Webber did but it's really grown on me.

worrywortisworrying · 05/06/2012 22:43

GAHHH! Faye - I've already been lambasted for calling in the Uk (which I didn't!!!) so it would appear I can't win whatever I say!

I hope all the Scots had a fab time too!!! (and everywhere else in the commonwealth) xx

OP posts:
FayeGovan · 05/06/2012 22:47

you didn't call in the UK, whatever that means, you assumed the queen defined England and nowhere else was mentioned xx

takingiteasy · 05/06/2012 22:50

Faye I'm glad someone else picked up on that! She's not just England's queen...

And Olympia... You worked with the royals? Why didn't you say so?!

Anyway, been nice to have no school run, had a nice time at a street party today and about creamed my pants enjoyed watching Robbie!

worrywortisworrying · 05/06/2012 22:50

(Sorry, in the the thread, someone said: It's not the UK... that's what I was referring to)

I have no clue why I just put that in Brackets.

I actually don't care. If she's your queen, HOORAY, cos she's fab. She's my Queen and while I'll almost certain never meet her, I think she's fab too.

Yes, bring on the Platinum! Crown

We wimped out and stayed home dry in front of the telly on Sunday instead of braving the river banks and I am now a mass of disappointment and regret. But in 10 years' time, DDs will be a bit easier to handle in big crowds.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 05/06/2012 22:53

Oh and I'm Canadian and she's my queen Grin

I watch the whole concert last night and also the parade today from the comfort of my living room. I loved all of it. I don't think I would have enjoyed actually going to palace to watch it as the weather put me off plus the amount of people there meant I'd probably have been unable to see anything anyway.

I was disappointed that there wasn't a street party here but I'm sure if I searched hard enough, there would have been one local enough for us to join.

busymummy3 · 05/06/2012 22:56

well we haven't had a street party , there haven't been any street parties going on in our neighbourhood either:( not much "galvanising of the whole community here. No bunting and no flags either anywhere else the same ?

ViviPru · 05/06/2012 22:56

I'm with Ariel. Other than the two days off I'm thoroughly bah humbug about it but that's purely due to my own circumstances and I've gone out of my way not to piss on anyones chips. Other than on this thread. Sorry.

FayeGovan · 05/06/2012 22:58

worry am so glad you dont care you've alienated the rest of the commenwealth

HOORAY

worrywortisworrying · 05/06/2012 22:58

Thanks ViviPru I really appreciate that Grin

Faye - I did start by saying I wasn't much of a Royalist. I don't think I, personally, have managed to offend the rest of the commonweath, but I suppose the tower is still available for types such as me.

I just had a lovely weekend, and I hope you have too.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 05/06/2012 23:00

No bunting and no flags! Shock

What, none anywhere??

Shock
CrispyCod · 05/06/2012 23:02

Lack of bunting and flags around here apart from one street. We have a large population of non-commonwealth residents and asylum seekers which may be a reason.

busymummy3 · 05/06/2012 23:05

None whatsoever unless you count Morrisons or Sainsburys ! Noone in our neighbourhood has their home decorated think I have seen one large Union Jack on a flagpole in a garden which we drove past it has just been like a long weekend here.
