Are the self appointed Thread Police just lonely people who have no other way of expressing their power crazed tendencies?

Or are they just unhealthily obsessed in their determination to keep everything neat and tidy? at the same time as indulging in their infatuation of telling other people what do do

I'm not sure what I think.

Leave the bastard

FiftyShadesofViper · 05/06/2012 00:48

Bugger! I've obviously missed something again despite wasting all night on here!

Will toddle off like Miss marple to poke around and investigate.

CrispyCod · 05/06/2012 00:50

Look Agent , it's the bank holiday weekend, we don't need threads like this, come back in a few days Grin

ThePathanKhansWitch · 05/06/2012 00:50

Clue please Agent .

DioneTheDiabolist · 05/06/2012 00:51

Should this not be in Are They Being Unreasonable?Grin

AgentZigzag · 05/06/2012 00:58

We do need these thread Crispy, I have a lack of standards to maintain you know Hmm

I was on an AIBU thread that got to about 80 odd posts and then was moved to chat, there was a definite dilemma going on, but the OP didn't word it in the thread/title.

It just made me irrationally angry wonder why someone would have gone to the bother of reporting it to MNHQ to have it moved.

I mean, what kind of a person could be arsed to do that??

OP posts:
CrispyCod · 05/06/2012 01:00

Do you reckon the Thread Police get commission on every thread they report?

lovebunny · 05/06/2012 01:05

people here report threads? i can't believe it!

AgentZigzag · 05/06/2012 01:16

I've just noticed an 's' missing from my last post, could I be in the sub-division of the Thread Police, The Grammar Nazis, without knowing?

I think it's more of a case of them considering the number of allotted threads allowed daily on AIBU Crispy, even for money nobody could be that anal pedantic.

I know lovebun Sad I know

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 05/06/2012 07:47

Yes. That's it exactly.

I wonder at their lack of anything better to do. Perhaps it is time for them to actually interact with their children.

Or is that a crazy idea?

JoanOfNark · 05/06/2012 07:57

"I wonder at their lack of anything better to do. Perhaps it is time for them to actually interact with their children."

Hi Pot, I'm a kettle. Did you know you're black?

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 05/06/2012 08:03

I agree but..... You can interact with your children and mn at the same time.

I am currently providing a car raceway with a convienientparking garage underneath to roughly shove put the cars in. I've tried commenting on the actual race but got told "nooo mummy, it's not the purple one".

It is the purple one!

AgentZigzag · 05/06/2012 11:27

YABU Charlie, it's clearly not the purple one at all.

OP posts:
treadheavily · 05/06/2012 11:31

Yes, I expect that's exactly it.

Greensleeves · 05/06/2012 11:33

I had one the other day demand that I explain how my aibu thread qualified as an aibu thread

it did

i felt strangely triumphant

usualsuspect · 05/06/2012 11:34

MN should get rid of AIBU, then people would use the correct topics.

HandMadeTail · 05/06/2012 11:39

OMG!

I reported a thread on Saturday.

(It was clearly spam.)

I am the Fred Police! Shock

Blush

Did get a nice thankyou email from MNHQ, though!

AgentZigzag · 05/06/2012 11:42

MN should get rid of MN so mothers could look after their children Usual.

Don't you have some housework to do or something?

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 05/06/2012 11:44

I'm too busy reporting threads to do any housework.

AgentZigzag · 05/06/2012 11:45

Reporting spam is OK HandMade.

Suggesting someone posting on AIBU should try the relationship board because they'll get good advice from experienced posters, is OK.

Reporting threads because they don't word an AIBU in the title/OP and posters are chatting, A Bit Weird.

ShowOfHands · 05/06/2012 11:47

I've self appointed myself as bugger all but in some cases I can see the reasoning behind reporting a thread as in the wrong place. For myriad reasons. Sometimes to direct it to a place where better help is available, sometimes to move it out of a contentious place where fallout can happen, sometimes to better handle a sensitive topic. And it doesn't matter who reports it, if MNHQ move it then there was probably a good reason for doing so.

There's no point having the facility to be able to hide topics if people are going to bung their drivel in aibu or chat as default. There's stuff I choose not to see on here but it trickles across into aibu when people post there through laziness or some misguided arrogance that they deserve more traffic than the actual topic would provide for them.

As always happens with this thread, the general consensus always seems to be that we have too many topics.

usualsuspect · 05/06/2012 11:47

They should use the chat topic for chatting.

Greensleeves · 05/06/2012 11:48

that's what happened on my thread, it wAS going along fine and then someone popped up and asked me to explain what the AIBU question was Confused

Northernlurker · 05/06/2012 11:52

The thread police are indeed very tedious.

WorraLiberty · 05/06/2012 11:54

MN should get rid of AIBU, then people would use the correct topics

I disagree.

MN should get rid of about 3/4 of the other ridiculous topics that make the site as a whole like a ghost town.

If you have a topic for every bloody thing, you're only going to get a handful of posts in each.

People have been saying this forever but MNHQ don't seem to want to listen.
