The evenings have been so hot recently, I like to have a quick shower before bed so I can go to bed cool. Apprently this is bizarre and no-one else does this Hmm. It seems logically to me to keep cool, i can't be the only one who does this? Hoping some MNetters do it too, if so, this will be second time this week MN has agrees with me and he was been wrong Grin

If you have a water meter YANBU. If you don't, then YABVU.

usualsuspect Grin

I am posting this from my shower.

usualsuspect · 30/05/2012 21:30

I love a competitive showering thread

Floggingmolly · 30/05/2012 21:39

It's not bizarre at all, plenty of people do this. Even if it wasn't common practice, you are still allowed to choose to do it Smile

BerryJubileeCheesecake · 30/05/2012 23:47

Usual.... Competitive sheet changing is even better. Closely followed by competive towel changing Grin

YANBU, though as water is metered here (Oz) and it is often hot I tend to replace extra showers with jumping in the pool instead.

TheFlyingFishfinger · 31/05/2012 01:08

Ooooh yes, or sometimes and ice cold hair was. Looooove that. And let it dry naturally.

Thumbwitch · 31/05/2012 01:16

No wonder there's so much water shortage going on...

AdoraBell · 31/05/2012 02:26

I do when it's hot, OH can't get his head past the fact that a shower, or bath, involves hot water. He was amazed and not entirely convinced when I told him I take cool or even cold showers/baths, depending how hot it is. Here our summer tempts have been around the low 40's, in Celsius!

Oh wow, I hasn't thought of dry shampoo for years - can you still get it? Vile stuff, you might as well just pour baby powder on your head.

DuffyMoon · 31/05/2012 07:39

no water shortage ooop north Wink carries on watering t'lawn

supernannyisace · 31/05/2012 07:44

Ihave as many showers as I fancy! Recently it's been three a day - as have been doing a lot of running, sunbathing.. afternoon 'napping ' ;) and I like one before bed too.

DS is a sweaty teenager- so he tends to have one in a morning, one on return from school - and then before bed if it has been a hot day.

We do keep them short - I am in and out in two mins - including hair washing/conditioning. Ds doesn't do too bad for time either. DH on the other hand can spend fifteen minutes in there -grrrrr........

LaurieFairyCake · 31/05/2012 07:46

Yanbu - we are all doing this every day.

I in particular need it after gardening for a couple of hours, all dirt sticks to the suntan lotion.

DS1 has 2 or 3 showers a day whether it is hot or the middle of winter!! (one when he gets up, one when he gets home from school and one before bed)
Therefore you are not being UR (but DS is!!!)

mumnotmachine · 31/05/2012 09:15

Yep another twice a day-er here as well whatever time of year it is.
If its particularly hot and sweaty weather can have up to 3 or 4 a day, no excuse to be hot and sweaty

OTTMummA · 31/05/2012 10:30

I found this interesting the other day and feel less guilty about wanting to feel clean and refreshed

sashh · 31/05/2012 11:14

BerryJubileeCheesecake

Take a trip to Australia - you shower as often as you need to, and that can be several times a day.

Before I got A/C I would have a cool shower in the middle of the night to get back to sleep

Thumbwitch · 31/05/2012 11:21

Only if you live in an area that doesn't have water restrictions or a water tank as your water source.

Pandemoniaa · 31/05/2012 11:22

YANBU. I do the same. It's lovely to feel cool and clean after a hot day. Also, there's nothing nastier than getting into bed all grimy.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 31/05/2012 11:26

I always shower twice a day when it's so hot. What fucks me off is DH showering every other day because he is too lazy to clean himself. Lovely.

eurochick · 31/05/2012 11:28

YANBU. I often do this when it's really hot. Our house has a lot of glass and is ike a blooming greenhouse in summer.

Also, all year round when my period is heavy I have an evening bath/shower as well as a morning one.
