to loathe those weird shoes with the rocking bit on the sole?

You know, the Skechers/MBT/whatever ones that claim to firm up your bottom by making you wobble around on the soles of your shoes. I am seeing more and more of them these days.

They are the Toyota Prius of the shoe world: barbarous to look at and of spurious actual benefit. AIBU to loathe them?

FashionEaster I don't wear the flipflop model ones to work, but they make some perfectly acceptable sandals. Obviously if you work in the kind of office where you're wearing suits/proper blouses/heels type of thing, so smart rather than smart/casual they won't work, but my office is pretty relaxed.

Mind you, if anyone had said anything about my sandals I'd have spoken to my GP and got a note - I mean, a good employer should not insist that their staff walk around in agony, and plantar fasciitis is agony.

madmomma · 29/05/2012 20:00

well how's this for karma? After mocking MBTs earlier in the thread, I have been diagnosed with bunions today and will probably have to wear the blasted things!

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 20:10

Pointy, they make sandals too? Am off to look. Thank you.

And my employer would be ok, just that fitflops wouldn't be 'right' in my place of work.

pointythings · 29/05/2012 20:16

Fashion go to this site - I have used them for all but my first pair, they are great. The sandals have a decent strap at the back too. I lived in them last summer and am wearing them again now because they are so comfy and don't look ugly at all - just not elegant, more functional.

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 20:55

It didn't link to a specific shoe, but you are right about the utilitarian look!

I try to avoid toe-posts which limits it to about this but damn, even in the more forgiving brown, it clashes with about everything I wear! Would look fine with jeans though.

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 20:59

ike these in style but not in flaming orange!

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 21:00

The trainers though are rather nice, I could easily wear these

pointythings · 29/05/2012 21:03

Hmmm they are all very backless this year, aren't they Fashion?
I have these ones and also the same in black. Very much last year's model but I couldn't care less. What sort of colours do you wear at work that black doesn't go for you?

pointythings · 29/05/2012 21:04

I like the trainers (but have no excuse to buy them Sad)

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 21:04

The children's sandals are a lot nicer!

Charliefarlie1192 · 29/05/2012 21:05

not sure if I am thinking of the same thing but i hate those enormous flipflops that people occasionally wear in black and sparkly as if that makes them attractive

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 21:12

Cos am very pale, I don't wear a lot of black otherwise unintentionally I can look like a Goth. In summer shoewise I usually wear silver sandals or something neutral that goes with most of my clothes.

Those sandals you linked are far nicer in style than anything else I've seen.

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 21:20

maybe these

pointythings · 29/05/2012 21:22

You're very out of luck this year, Fashion they had loads of white/pale blue stuff last year but not this year.

My DDs both have last year's toe-post models in silver sequins with a light grey/dark grey sole, very attractive but not around this year.

I really hope you find something that fits because your heels and spine will love you - I have a dodgy back, very prone to sciatica but walking in these seems to sort it quickly. And I can walk long distances in them, but I think my feet must just suit them.

Warning - go a size up from your usual, they come up small.

pointythings · 29/05/2012 21:23

I like the tan ones Fashion very stylish. They really ought to do summery white/denim blue ones as well though.

FashionEaster · 29/05/2012 21:26

Thanks though for all your help, really appreciate it, at least I now know what to look for!
