To want people to stop moaning about the weather

It only happens a few times of year that we have sunny weather. So enjoy it or get in the shade!

Glad it's not just me finding it a bit too warm, though seeing as the Irish Sea is only a few hundred yards from me I'm probably in a cooler place than many others. I think it's very variable across UK, so we cannot be sure what others are feeling (Tuesday here was damp and foggy, while the sun did try to burn through around 1700 but didn't manage it... my sister in the Midlands had a very sunny day).

I certainly don't go abroad to stay on the beach (though do remember childhood summers visiting the beach when I lived in Sussex and it was warm but not generally too uncomfortable), and particularly enjoyed holidays to Chicago one November, Canada [Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Niagara Falls] one February and Rovaniemi (Finland, Arctic Circle) one December. I've been to San Francisco, LA and San Diego in November, February, March, and April and only San Diego was too hot for me (in March). San Francisco was very wet one February (second wettest in 100 years) which encouraged me to visit Palo Alto but despite the rain, I enjoyed that visit more than if it had been over 75F all day!

OP, YABU, as not everyone likes it (or can even cope with it) when the temperature goes up. I'm not bothering to convert to centigrade but listening the other evening to WGN, Chicago, and hearing the temperature range they're experiencing (from 40s overnight, to 95 in the day and 60s around 6pm) it made me remember never to go in the warmer months... So hot there at times, it can kill anyone without air conditioning [and the ability to pay their electric bills].

We get sufficient rain for the land to be mostly green and pleasant, plus some warm spells which a large proportion like, but definitely not everyone. How boring if we all had exactly the same preferences!

Tulips Grin

I'm basing this on met office website... so hopefully true. They have a weather warning for rain!

21C, fluffy clouds and overnight showers would be perfect for me too. I've been indoors or in the shade all weekend, I hate being out in strong hot sunshine for more than a few minutes.

YANBU - please stop moaning about the weather everyone. It'll go back to being shit, hopefully not too soon, but then we'll have months of cold, dark, rainy weather. So stop being misery guts!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 27/05/2012 22:42

I'll moan about whatever the fuck I want to thanks. It's hadn't gone above 14C until about 10 days ago for 9 weeks, we've had tornadoes, hail, even snow in some parts recently and suddenly the temp doubles and everybody is expected to enjoy being hot, sweaty, uncomfortable and pissed off.

No. It was too fucking hot and I'm not used to it. Next person to call misery guts gets a haddock wrapped round their head

hecatetrivia · 28/05/2012 06:08

Nope. Won't. Not everyone likes the hot weather. Why oh why does everyone assume that everyone else must love hot weather? I'm hot, cranky, sweaty and my hayfever's kicked in.

I've as much right to whinge about that as you do about the cold weather (which I love)

So ner Grin
