ARE CHAVS?

I've just seen a woman in the park pour a cup of tea into her baby's bottle, add milk and then give it to her baby. Is this some sort of chavy behaviour or do normal people do this?

AIBU in thinking WTF

Debeezandbirds · 22/05/2012 17:50

Chav or normal? Hmm

Biscuit
Psammead · 22/05/2012 17:50

Chavs Hmm

How old was the baby? Was it black tea? Caffienated? Or don't you know?

RandomNumbers · 22/05/2012 17:50

Can you define chav/chavvy for me please

TIA

Shakirasma · 22/05/2012 17:50

Define chav [hmmm]

usualsuspect · 22/05/2012 17:51

People who use the word chav are a little bit stupid

HTH

Facebookhurtsmybrain · 22/05/2012 17:51

oh dear, I've opened up the chav debate...

looked like normal tea, baby looked about 18 months

FeakAndWeeble · 22/05/2012 17:52

'Chav or normal'?

Nice. Why are you asking? Are you going to go back and put a sticker on her once you know?

usualsuspect · 22/05/2012 17:52

And? who cares

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 22/05/2012 17:52

YANBU. Babies don't need tea, and they definatly don't need tea if they are still little enough to be having daytime bottles. It makes no difference if it's Rooibos or whatever, because it's well known that only milk and water should be given in bottles anyway.

ABatInBunkFive · 22/05/2012 17:53

I do, peop[le shouldn't drink tea it is unreasonable.

RandomNumbers · 22/05/2012 17:53

What is the chav debate please ?

Tea at 18 months isn't the worst thing in the world, it really isn't

Partic as no sugar added

Facebookhurtsmybrain · 22/05/2012 17:54

Chav definition... mothers you see pushing the buggy with a fag hanging out of their mouths... those types of people...

OP posts:
HRHqueenofeverything · 22/05/2012 17:54

yabu and a chav for saying chav..oh dear I am now a chav...

usualsuspect · 22/05/2012 17:54

Would that be organic milk and the finest filtered spring water from Waitrose?

Psammead · 22/05/2012 17:54

At 18 months babies can have all kinds of fruit tea. If there was caffiene in it, YANBU, apart from for your use of the word chav.

ImBetterThanYou · 22/05/2012 17:56

I've never understood why you would give tea to a baby Confused, I don't think it's 'chavy' though cos my gran and a few older people used to ask me if I wanted some tea to give to DS when he was a baby/toddler Hmm, why?

FeakAndWeeble · 22/05/2012 17:57

'those types of people'

Hmm

You're trying a bit too hard to be controversial but it's unpleasant nonetheless.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 22/05/2012 17:57

At 18 months babies can drink from a cup.

Noqontrol · 22/05/2012 18:01

Definition of Chav: council housed and violent.

Did she look as though she was council housed and violent op?

NarkedPuffin · 22/05/2012 18:01

Milky unsweetened tea, meh. Fruit juice drinks/soft drinks/artificial sweeteners would bother me a lot more.

usualsuspect · 22/05/2012 18:02

What does a council housed person look like?

HillyWallaby · 22/05/2012 18:03

YANBU to think that tea is unsuitable for babies' bottles. Although what if it is green tea? That's caffeine free and full of antioxidants you know. Posh people drink it. And healthy, alternative Woo types.

Everyone else is BU for pretending they don't know what you mean by 'Chav'.

The rest I don't care about.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 22/05/2012 18:04

Oh don't be so bloody ridiculous. DD1 was stealing the tea out of my mug at 18 months. What the hell does it matter whether that was in an M&S mug or a bottle. There's less sugar in my tea than there is in a bottle of milk.

PickledFanjoCat · 22/05/2012 18:04

My mum used to give me tea in a bottle. But that was the seventies. She used to put sugar in to fatten me up.

I don't think she is a chav but I will ask her.

HillyWallaby · 22/05/2012 18:05

If you are council housed and violent I recommend Chamomile tea. It's very calming.
