no it was at breaktime, there is always teachers/ta's present then but not in this circumstance, the thought never crossed my mind to sue its other parents who are telling me to persue a claim as she is going to have a disfigured nose now and with 64 children and no adults present she could of been pushed or anything i do not no exactly how it happened

If there are always teachers or TAs present, then what is special about "this circumstance" that there weren't?

BumpingFuglies · 21/05/2012 19:49

What did they say at the hospital? Can her nose be reset? Did you keep the discharge notes?

littlemisstwinkle · 21/05/2012 19:49

@ anyoneforturps exactly your immediate reaction is to put your arms out

YABU, if only because you are using the 'word' 'compo'.

But for other reasons too. As set out by other posters.

CaptainHetty · 21/05/2012 19:50

I don't believe a school would allow 64 children on a playground unsupervised and then openly admit it to a parent when one hurt themselves.

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 19:50

What was special about this circumstance that there was no adult supervision in the playground?

How did the accident happen?

ilovesooty · 21/05/2012 19:51

So why weren't there any adults present and who told you that there weren't?

HecateTrivia · 21/05/2012 19:51

Ah. so what you're saying is that you don't believe that she fell?

ilovesooty · 21/05/2012 19:52

Neither do I CatpainHetty

Sounds like absolute bollocks to me.

littlemisstwinkle · 21/05/2012 19:53

we have got to go back in a few days when the skin tissue starts to heal to see an ENT and yes i have all paperwork from school/hospital

OP posts:
BumpingFuglies · 21/05/2012 19:55

So did the X-ray show a single break?

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 19:55

alphabite · 21/05/2012 19:55

I don't believe for a second that children would be outside unattended and that the school would admit this. I'm sorry I think this is utter bollocks too. I agree with sooty.

I also doubt a broken nose in so young a child would be permanently disfigured.

littlemisstwinkle · 21/05/2012 19:56

ilovessoty and captainhetty believe what you want but thats the truth one of the class teachers told me that no adult was present at the time of the incident, and no i dont think it was an accident

OP posts:
fuckarama · 21/05/2012 19:58

How did the accident happen?

What was special about "this circumstance" that no adults AT ALL were in the playground?

Noqontrol · 21/05/2012 19:58

Did your dd say it wasn't an accident?

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 21/05/2012 19:59

I can believe no adult saw the accident but I find it hard to believe that 64 4-5 year olds were on the playground, unsupervised.

ilovesooty · 21/05/2012 19:59

Still don't believe it, sorry.

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 20:00

I can totally believe no adult SAW the accident, but I don't believe for one second that 64 4/5 year olds were left in a playground totally and utterly unsupervised.

AlexReidsLonelyBraincell · 21/05/2012 20:00

Yes certainly by all means sue. Go for it.

Then you can come on here in a few months and moan about the ott health and safety culture at the school when all children are wrapped in bubble wrap and made to sit at their desks at playtime.

Accidents happen, get over it.

BumpingFuglies · 21/05/2012 20:01

If not an accident, what do you think? I assume your daughter had an x-ray?

Blu · 21/05/2012 20:02

Presumably your dd can tell you what happened?
And other children will have been a witness?

If you believe that there was no adult at all in the whole playground, then you need to make a complaint to the Head.
If you believe that the accident policy was not followed, then again, claim to the Head.
It would be quite possible to think that it was a bump and a nosebleed until quite a while afterwards.

You won't get compensation unless you can demonstrate that the school were actually negigent and that the negligence contributed to or caused the injury. And you only get compensation for certain things, like loss of earnings.

It's upsetting when your child has an accident, I hope she recovers swiftly and with no after effects.

Emmielu · 21/05/2012 20:06

How was it not an accident if you & no other bugger saw it? Was your DD pushed or punched hard by another child? Did your DD trip over a small rock? I'd sue the rock in that case. If you weren't there then I wouldn't sue or jump to conclusions believe me it doesn't do you any justice. Keep it low key, get the apology & correct story, suggest there may be more adults in the playground supervising & leave it be.

curiositykitten · 21/05/2012 20:06

I am sorry that your daughter has been hurt, but a broken nose/accident can happen at any point, attended or unattended. No-one is to blame, and it's certainly not sue-able!
