Balked at the price but fell for their reputation. Weighing up whether to use it tonight or take it back tomorrow. (It was the largest sized bottle I bought btw, thought I'd better get best 'value').

I bet a £40 bottle will last you well over a year as pricier products seem to need less product to be effective than cheaper ones. So YANBU, enjoy it!

I bought Ultra Calming because I read it could be removed with tissue - can it buggery Sad it basically doesn't clean my skin and leaves it sticky and with the same amount of dirt/ makeup and a load of cleanser too! I need to try it with water, but the whole point was I wanted a cleanser I could wipe off. Gah, what a waste of £26 ish. Back to cheapo wipes for me.

BrightnessFalls · 18/05/2012 22:40

You can buy them cheaper fromt the Jersey company. Im broke but, as soon as I get paid, I will be buying the ultra calming cleanser. Its the best one. I love Dermalogica.

hiddenhome · 18/05/2012 22:40

I used to use Dermalogica cleansers, but they ended up by irritating my skin, even the ultra calming one. I now use dead cheap castor oil and my skin has never been better.

I still use Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant though because that's very good. I never found their moisturisers any good. Their foundation is okay too.

AnnetteCurtain · 18/05/2012 22:42

Thank you everyone! Going to crack open the bottle right now!

BrightnessFalls Thanks for the link!! brilliant..

I was a Clinique devotee and used to spend a fortune on it now I have a babba and a mortgage so it was a luxury that had to go. Now I use showergel on my face in the shower every morning, £2 moisturiser and babywipes at night before bed. My skin has never been better.

toofattorun · 19/05/2012 21:07

I use Clean and Clear daily exfoliating face wash. It's fantastic. Not because I have spots, but because it makes your face feel so clean.

FourYolksAche · 19/05/2012 21:15

Toofattorun if you like that try the Nutrogena Pink Grapefruit one, similar but has the most gorgeous smell. I left it on my face for 5 mins and it looked like I'd been sunburned, the salicylic acid is a bit hardcore Grin but yy you feel properly clean with teen spotty brands.

catyloopylou · 19/05/2012 23:45

Another vote for dermalogica's ultra calming cleanser. It's the only cleanser which leaves my dehydrated, sensitive, spotty skin clean but not tight. Also like the skin smoothing cream.

MD formulations sunscreen is great for everyday wear.

OP, YANBU to spend loadsa money on products if they work for your skin, but most salons will give you samples if you're not sure what will best suit you, although you usually have to ask.

YANBU

I've always had 13 year old girl skin and on a recent trip back to the UK I spent about that on some La Prairie cleanser (plus the rest of the gubbins so I have 6 different mositurisers, serums etc), and my skin has never been better.

Not tried Dermalogica, but its definitely not unreasonable to spend that on some good cleanser if you have problem skin, unless of course you're on the breadline and its cleanser or feed your family for a week Wink

KateSpade · 20/05/2012 19:12

That link is great! :)

Flatbread · 20/05/2012 19:52

I use Dermologica microexfolient (sp?) once a week or so and it is very good. But my skin is best with just bio extra virgin olive oil and olive oil with rock salt when I want a face and body exfoliation.

BrightnessFalls · 20/05/2012 19:54

Let me know what you buy Smile They also throw in samples, its fab.

lou2321 · 20/05/2012 20:03

YANBU, its important to buy the best stuff you can afford for your skin. My cleanser and toner are around £30 and my moisturiser about £35, I would love to buy elemis stuff but it is around £60 for some of it so just a bit out of my price range.

I really can't believe people actually use baby wipes on a regular basis to take make up off - those make up wipes are only supposed to be used once in a while so let alone baby wipes.

But then again, maybe its a con and baby wipes actually contain the same ingredients as the £60 a pot creams Grin

KateSpade · 20/05/2012 20:46

No, using baby wipes or even make-up remover wipes push make-up into your pores. i never, ever do that.

its horrific!

SauvignonBlanche · 20/05/2012 20:53

I have acne roseaca and would spend that if it helped.
Can't see any Dermalogica products for that though. Sad

toofattorun · 20/05/2012 23:15

FourYolksAche - will have to but that tomorrow and try that!

toofattorun · 20/05/2012 23:16

(sorry - too many "thats").... Blush

Petisa · 20/05/2012 23:21

I have recently bought a few Dermalogica products and my face has never felt so soft and clean. Still spotty though, but that's to do with no sleep and crap diet!

KDK12 · 21/05/2012 09:27

if you can afford it, you should buy whatever you like! make up and skincare products are my only 'vice' these days. i do, however, always like to look at the ingredients to see where my money's going, as it doesn't necessarily follow that more money = higher quality.

after trying out a sample of liz earle's hot cloth cleanser (lovely!) i swear by the oil cleansing method www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/ - it's basically a castor oil blend, (i use castor and macadamia nut oil) massaged in and removed with a hot wet washcloth or muslin square. if you like, you can add a drop of frankincense or rosemary essential oils. luxury! at a fraction of the price of salon products.

redpanda13 · 21/05/2012 09:35

I have rosacea and use the ultra calming cleanser too. It lasts for ages so I feel is well worth the money. I also order it online from Jersey. If I am particularly strapped for cash when it runs out I use Cetaphil which is also very good. I tried it after my local Asda chemist had it on promotion for £4

porcamiseria · 21/05/2012 10:15

Its a great product, very so often I treat myself to it. Its cleans beautifully and is non drying

worth the money
