I can't believe it. I only put £10 in because it was expensive, thinking that would do until I got to the supermarket petrol station which was a fair bit cheaper.

Beckamaw 17 miles to school each way!!! Shock. With current petrol prices you need to send them to work instead Grin

Fucka £7.50, that sounds amazing nowadays.

I just cannot comprehend how much it's rocketed in price in such a short amount of time as already said.

Probably could get an XR4i for the price of a full tank now Grin

MrsAmaretto... do you live next door to me??? I thought it was only where i live that 1.49 a litre was the standard price for petrol....

bogeyface · 17/05/2012 20:35

The question is...why?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 17/05/2012 20:37

Mine cost me £80 to fill up the other day

It has gone down a bit though.. only £145.9 round these parts Hmm

JarethTheGoblinKing · 17/05/2012 20:39

NonyMouse - if you don't have to drive to the petrol station to fill up it should save money Grin

MissRee · 17/05/2012 20:42

Fuckarama my first car was a mini and a major obsession for a good few years

I want another mini Sad

BsshBossh · 17/05/2012 20:42

Why is it more efficient/cheaper to keep the tank at half-full or more?

FuckTheFuckOff · 17/05/2012 20:47

£1.34 at Morrisons in my town today. Never seen it so low here. It was. £1.42 last week

JarethTheGoblinKing · 17/05/2012 20:51

BssBossh - it's meant to be more efficient to keep less weight on board, less fuel = more efficient. This doesn't work though if you have to drive miles to a filling station (like I do).

Was certainly cheaper the petrol prices were shooting up - I filled up one day and 3 days later it was 5p more per litre.

swearytramp · 17/05/2012 20:52

yup. I have been on flashing light on several occasions lately - can only manage £10 or so and it rea;ly doesn't go out of the red :( it's a tiny weeny, super economical nissan micra as well :(

Rindercella · 17/05/2012 20:53

Mine costs about 125 quid to fill up from nearly empty. That that would last me 10 days or so, depending what I'm doing. However, I very rarely either let it run down to red because it's not good for the car and neither do I normally fill it up to the brim because then it uses more fuel due to the extra weight of the erm, fuel Grin

I remember being horrified in 1991 when living in Italy and my boyfriend filling up his 4x4 and it costing L50,000 (about 25 quid!) Shock. That seemed astronomical back then!

Iirc, petrol was about 70/75p per litre in around 2001. So it has doubled in 10 years or so.
