re Dropping the kids off at the pool

I like to drop the kids off at the pool, they really seem to enjoy swimming, but I hate it, so I just drop them off and wave goodbye.

What I'm wondering is if I'm being unreasonable to use the p&c parking spaces while doing this.

Obviously they're big enough to be let go on their own, but they are still children after all, and when they've finished swimming they always look a little flushed, so I wouldn't want them to have to make a long journey to the pool as well.

AIBU, or just a bit shitty?

YABU
Unless your children have some sort of mobility impairment they sound quite big enough to walk the extra few meters or even few dozen meters to a regular car park space. leave P&T spaces for parents & TODDLERS.

gigglewizz · 15/05/2012 23:23

They probably look flushed as they had FUN, you have said they are old enough, kids need independence, go shopping or whatever and stop feeling guilty. I grew up in a hot country and we swam all day unsupervised and loved it and didn't care if our parents were there or not. Obviously we had swimming lessons first! Don't feel bad!

DuelingFanjo · 15/05/2012 23:23

this is a joke, right.

IAmBooyhoo · 15/05/2012 23:24

sorry i dont understand.

you use the p&C spaces so your children dont have to walk across teh car park into the pool because they will be tired after swimming? is that right?

gigglewizz · 15/05/2012 23:25

Oh and I don't think the parking is an issue as long as it's just to drop off and you don't hog the space the whole time you are waiting for them!

IAmBooyhoo · 15/05/2012 23:25

interesting username also 'poo-lay'

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 15/05/2012 23:26

Are you smoking a cigarette whilst parked in the p&c parking space?
Do you have a huge car, impossible to park anywhere else?
Or a huge buggy?

JayelleBee · 15/05/2012 23:26

What does Derek Acorah say about it?

Did you also see Mrs Brown off to the coast? Wink

Poulay · 15/05/2012 23:27

Well sometimes I sit there and read a newspaper while I am dropping them off. I don't like to rush it and it's nice to get 10 minutes peace tbh.

DameHermione · 15/05/2012 23:29

Nah. They are children after all.

And won't someone think of the children?

Poulay · 15/05/2012 23:29

The world needs more p&c parking threads. I am doing my bit for humanity.

CheesyWellingtons · 15/05/2012 23:35

I imagine you must be desperate to get back to work if you are just plopping them out of the car like that. I would just make them runs run.

GinevraMollyWeasley · 15/05/2012 23:36

I have to question how closely you observe, erm, them, if they look they are enjoying it!

I need to get out more

TalcAndTurnips · 15/05/2012 23:41

Isn't it the norm to leave the kids at the pool once you've dropped them off?

Dear god - please tell me you're not thinking of collecting them afterwards Shock
