well. im trying to be typically girly and go all swoony about edward and the rather pathetic simpering bella.

but no. just not getting it.

pile of shite. what is the fuss about - really? what am i missing?

luckily for me DD thinks the same. i would have been secretly disappointed if she thought this was anything like good....

It depends..

Books - YABU
Films - YANBU

I can't stick the actress that plays Bella and don't have any time for the films. But the books are not a bad read.

I liked Tom Cruise as Lestat.Armand was all wrong though, but I can't really blame Antonio Banderas for that.

Haha, I watched Twilight when it first came out with my far younger sister. I could hardly keep a straight face all the way through... actually couldn't decide if it was meant to be a borderline comedy/parody.

Got to the end, and turned to my sis to start ripping the film to pieces, and instead she exclaimed, "Oh I loved that so much!!!" And wanted to go watch it again. I kept my mouth shut. :)

Have now seen all the movies, and have become quite fond of them in an 'escape from reality, bit of fluff' way... bit similar to reading a seriously cheesy romance novel.

However, I must admit to having developed a serious crush on Bella. I don't know what it is, as on paper her characteristics go against everything I thought I found attractive... but somehow she has wormed her way into the 'borderline obsession' part of my brain.

If I were to date a girl (not sure DH would be happy Grin ), Bella would be high on the list (second only to Rhianna).

Edward bleugh, Jacob bleugh (but somewhat redeemed by the muscled chest).

Agree Buffy so much better. Buffy was a very vulnerable character but never a victim and the male characters were great too. Twilight is a bunch of misogynist rubbish, can't believe a woman wrote it.

Joss Wheedon (Buffy Creator) once said, in answer to the question "why do you write strong female characters.": "Because you're still asking me that question."

He's a very smart man (he starts talking at around the 2 minute mark)
