I like a nature programme as much as the next person, but oh god he irritates me.

I have seen the bear guy in another programme maybe his own programme ? i dont mind an aww and a little baby especially the bears i made myself hoarse with the AWWWWS , but this programme had such potential then employed a rubbish presenter ,

YANBU, I can't stand Richard Hammond. He moved into the village I grew up in a few years back and then moved straight out and said in an interview it was all Stepfordy and he didn't want his kids and wife changing to fit in with that. I took it personally, obviously! Grin I also can't stand Clarkson because he reminds me so much of my FIL, both Doncaster boys born and bred O_o

PiedWagtail · 11/05/2012 10:28

YANBU!! He drives me mad. Bring back David Attenborough/Steve Backshall/Simon King/Bill Oddie/Kate Humble (in fact, any real wildlife presenter!) :)

He can't speak in proper sentences - he doesn't pause at a full stop, just keeps on going, then stops in the middle of the next sentence - making no sense! Angry

Hate the anthropomorphic naming of all the animals too - wtf is that all about??

NotGeoffVader · 11/05/2012 10:46

He's not an expert on wildlife by any means but until we can draw in the petrolheads and major consumerist (is that a word?) types who are full of material values, we have no hope of raising awareness of the fragility of our planet and wildlife....so I suspect a more 'political' motive for having him front the show.

He is a bit of a twat, but then again, he has a certain charm...Blush

He is actually a journalist - they all are/were on Top Gear. RH had a chat-type show and was actually quite good on Brainiacs. No reason why he shouldn't present a wildlife show - but would be better with proper wildlife experts (simon King would be great, but prob not got the high-level exposure the BBC think they need, to bring in the viewers)

And I think the next show has a competition to name one of the lioncubs/bearcubs/otters can't remember which.

That is to bring in all the grannies, who luve RH and likkle babby animules

SomedayIllFlyAway · 11/05/2012 13:50

I am indifferent to him (and her) in the show.

I wish they had named it "Springwatch Goes International" instead of "Planet Earth Live" as the cinematography isn't upto the usual Planet Earth standard (not enough time to get the perfect shots I would assume), so that alone is a let down. Also why all the anthropomorphic shit?

I would have rather seen proper wildlife experts / dedicated presenters too.

As an aside, do you think we could keep Sir David working until a suitable replacement has been found? I do quite like the new breed of cameramen presenters (like Gordan Buchanon and Simon King), but they still don't quite have the all encompassing enthusiasm for every living thing quite like Sir David.

YANBU - as long as the lion didn't spit out his hair and leave it behind.

feuerandwasser · 11/05/2012 14:12

YANBU.....he is annoying in the extreme.

dementedma · 12/05/2012 22:23

Gordon Buchanan? He of the lovely hair?

pictish · 12/05/2012 22:25

Yanbu!

What is so great about Richard Hammond that he gets to do so much cool and interesting stuff and get paid for it?

leguminous · 12/05/2012 23:06

YANBU. At all. Though given a choice I would sacrifice bloody bloody Clarkson before the Hamster.
