YANBU of course....and make sure she has a weeks worth of sunbeds first.

I can't believe they've come up with that theme for such littlies! What about Shirley Temple? Or Annie?

ItsAPublicForumWhine · 09/05/2012 13:08

Pollyanna!

hellymelly · 09/05/2012 13:09

Hollywood movie stars? Not the best choice for four year olds is it? Never mind the use of the word "movie" which is on my top hate list. Also do they mean film stars or characters from films? If its the latter then send her in as Edward Scissorhands, the resulting carnage should mean better choices from now on.

myimaginarychildBernard · 09/05/2012 13:10

Annie is another good one.

How about this:
Angelina Jolie.
DD dressed in skinny jeans and vest top carrying all 5 of her 'babies'.

The letter states "Hollywood movie star" thats all I've been given to work with.

DD of course doesn't have a clue. She's 4 and thinks Mary Poppins is real. I don't want to shatter the illusion just yet!

Isn't Hollywood Movie Stars an odd choice and would a 5 year old child understand that anyway.

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 09/05/2012 13:21

LOL!

My DD's class recently had a movie star day (they are year 2) and just said to send in dresses for the girls to wear and trousers and shirts for boys. DD just wore one of her pretty summer dresses

ShellyBobbs · 09/05/2012 14:07

Samuel L Jackson / John Travolta in Pulp Fiction?
Bruce Willis in Die Hard?

How stupid :)

What about Pirates of the Carribean or another Disney film box office hit?

Pixieonthemoor · 09/05/2012 14:22

Can I ask why they are being asked to dress up as Hollywood movie stars - is it a fun way to raise money for something (ie pay a pound and come in fancy dress)? Please don't tell me it's supposed to be educational Grin

HermanMumster · 09/05/2012 14:29

Charlie Chaplin? Lassie?

Laurel or Hardy?

thebestisyettocome · 09/05/2012 14:30

Send her in like this

myimaginarychildBernard · 09/05/2012 15:01

Its purely for educational purposes pixie. They're having a "cities of the world" day. Each class has a different city and DDs is Hollywood Hmm

I'm sure they do this just to piss parents off.
It's teachers' way of getting back at pushy parents Grin

Ithinkitsjustme · 09/05/2012 15:10

Arnold Swarzenegger, or one of the blues Brothers

minimisschief · 09/05/2012 15:47

why are some people against the idea of dressing up as movie stars? no different than dressing up as a book character just a different medium of entertainment

GoEasyPudding · 09/05/2012 15:48

Dearie me! Hollywood is a local area of LA is it not? Might be wrong, I haven't actually been there. I would send mine as a writer or as a director just so I could put a baseball cap on DS.

I think is a right daft theme. Not very educational. In my day it was called Mufti day.

LittleMissMcFartyPants · 09/05/2012 16:00

Ah so not everyone's going as a Hollywood star?

Big huge sunglasses, pretty headscarf and huge handbag.... Have you got a small rat like dog she can carry? Grin

Katienana · 09/05/2012 16:07

Ridiculous, Hollywood isn't a city!
Stick her in a Spiderman costume.

lolajane2009 · 09/05/2012 16:09

nice that they are educating children that hollywood is a town tbh

Hopandaskip · 09/05/2012 16:11

I like the minnie mouse idea.

Eden's outfits and 'style' are heinous and she is from Arkansas, not California (TG)

ABatInBunkFive · 09/05/2012 16:12

Bit concerned at the level of knowledge the teachers have at your DDs school if the think Hollywood is a city.

Whoopydofoxpoo · 09/05/2012 16:15

Hollywood movie star ? Bizarre What topic is that fitting in with ?

I understand book characters - you don't live in LA do you ?
