Listening to LBC now. discussing how 'outrageous' having up to a year off in maternity leave is.

Katie has just pointed out she went back to work within 2 weeks of having a baby. Big fucking whoop. Well done !!

True I guess lyingwitch. I just hate the fact that woman are so quick to judge others for ff/bf/working/sahm/10 kids/0kids delete as appropriate.

BonnieBumble · 09/05/2012 12:15

Of course she went back to work after 2 weeks. She doesn't actually do anything does she?

Me too, Icelolly. No wonder we're thought of as the 'weaker sex'; some just can't rest unless they've put somebody down for their choices. Such a shame and so unnecessary.

sashh · 09/05/2012 12:21

Isn't it illegal to go back to work that soon? I thought the rules stated you HAD to take 3 months because your body needs that amount of time to recover.

I supose it depends on what you call work. I'd like to see her do a junior Doctor's shift or tack shelves in Tesco at 2 weeks post delivery.

And if she only sent one work e-mail she would probably count that as working.

Icelollycraving · 09/05/2012 12:22

Her post just made me immeasurably angry. Probably due to the fact I am at the end of mat leave & feeling so mixed about it that a comment like that really makes me feel like shit. People have said 'oh you will miss so much'. Not helpful.

SerialKipper · 09/05/2012 12:27

"I wouldn't be surprised if she went into politics at some point"

Oh she tried, she tried. And came here to try to get ideas for policies.

Which may explain her current antipathy to MN.GrinGrinGrin

I went back to work two weeks after my first baby was born. Not by choice but because I needed the money, state maternity pay was not going to cover my bills. I regret it completly. I feel the bond between my child and I is not as strong as with my other children, whom I took six months ML. I love her completly but I do feel the bond is strained.
I do realise that the company was totally wrong in taking me back so soon, and they threatened to suspend me because I left my desk on my second day back for twenty minutes. What they didn't know was that I was in the toilets trying to stem the heavy bleeding.
I was 18 then, living by myself, with a baby, bills and rent. I didn't know my rights. I knew them by the time my second baby came along.

OrmIrian · 09/05/2012 12:31

My sympathies icelolly. I know exactly what you mean. My youngest is 9 now so mat leave is long long behind me but at the time I found it very hard. Needed to go back - no choice financially. After DD was born particularly (second of 3 babies) it broke my heart getting back to work full-time. When DS2 was born I managed to go down to 30 hrs a week so a bit better.

The last thing you need is sweeping trite judgements of that kind.

Hope it all goes well x

Greatdomestic · 09/05/2012 12:31

Sashh, you need to take 2 weeks compulsory mat leave, which is what she did.

It's her choice but she doesn't seem to think that others should have the choice to do what is right for them.

MadameChinLegs · 09/05/2012 12:34

Work would have loved me going back at two weeks.....haunted eyes from lack of sleep, crying into my keyboard and bleeding all over the chair.

What a look.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 09/05/2012 12:35

I think that mothers will never be 'right' in the eyes of the other people. Not until they can clone themselves and both work full time and be a SAHP... it's really not easy to decide and nobody else's business. Confused

BananasInBloomers · 09/05/2012 12:35

She must have not had c-sections then if she thinks every woman should just have two weeks.

frumpet · 09/05/2012 12:37

All that money and still that nose Wink

BananasInBloomers · 09/05/2012 12:38

Madame I was told to go put some make up on as I was the first face people see when they arrived. I looked grey. But then I was up all night feeding a baby, working all day,and trying to keep my damp hell hole flat tidy.

sugarice · 09/05/2012 12:39

I remember her on The Apprentice and when she did the after show "You're Fired" Michelle Mone tore strips off her, stating she was the kind of woman who wouldn't last 5 mins in her organisation , an unhealthy person to be around etc. I usually cringe when obnoxious TV people are humiliated but I found myself actually really enjoying her being put in her place, she had a face like she was sucking a bag of extra sour lemons Grin.

missorinoco · 09/05/2012 12:39

I got throught 20 odd posts with increasing confusion before I realised the thread was about Katie Hopkins rather than Katie Holmes. Blush

I need to get out more.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 09/05/2012 12:40

Was that really 'Katie Hopkins' on that thread? I didn't think she'd be that dumb to just keep banging on. From watching her in The Apprentice, she was chameleon-like and sly - that thread didn't achieve anything for her/him/whoever.

bibbitybobbitybunny · 09/05/2012 12:40

The real crime in all this is that the media give her airtime. Such disgusting dumbing down.

MadameChinLegs · 09/05/2012 12:41

Shock Bananas that's so sad. What a trivial matter to add to your allready long list of worries.

Icelollycraving · 09/05/2012 12:46

Thanks orm. Yes,now if I could clone myself lyingwitch everyone would be happy!

BananasInBloomers · 09/05/2012 12:48

Yes I should have been putting my make up on in between feeding changing breast pads and resisting the urge to call them and say fuck you all,I'll struggle on benefits.
Even now when I pass the offices I have an urge to throw a rock through their fancy glass front.
Luckily I was made reduntant and got a new job with wonderful employers.

splashymcsplash · 09/05/2012 12:49

YABU for taking to heart anything she says!

She is an attention seeking woman who makes comments like this to deliberately offend, because she knows it will make her notorious! Ignore her and them!

MINIBondGirl · 09/05/2012 12:50

Just to make you all really mad I've put her best simpering photo up for you ....Brew
