to fantasize about kicking the bumpers of every car parked half on the pavement

I walk to DD1's preschool along a busy, narrow B road. It seems that almost every time I go that way there is at least one car parked half on, half off the narrow pavement. Often such that I have to go onto the road with a pushchair and walking preschooler to get around the car. Or sometimes we just about squeeze past on the pavement, scraping along the wall

The road is narrow enough that other cars still have to go past in single file, so parking this way does not make it any easier for other motorists, just harder for pedestrians, especially ones with wide pushchairs or wheelchairs.

Every time I see a car like this, a brief thought goes through my mind of kicking the bumper as I go past, or knocking the wing mirror. I would never actually do it, but AIBU to fantasize?

I've seen big burly firemen bounce cars out of the way in a small street to get to a fire, it was in the 70/80s though so nobody would think of being pissed at them for touching their precious cars.

There's a car near me that parks entirely on the pavement. Admittedly, its a slightly wider than usual pavement but there is still barely space left to walk past never mind push a buggy past.

Worst thing is that they have a poxy baby on board AND a little prince on board car sticker on the car so they should have some idea of what its like to try and squeeze through spaces left by inconsiderate gits like themselves.

I take great pleasure plowing my buggy through their flower bed in order to get past.

captainmummy I have been Shock at posters on some other threads that think it is excusable to park on pavements.

My DD's primary school was situated down a busy, narrow street and there were a handful of parents that ignored the double yellow lines and bumped up on the already narrow pavements. Some even left the doors wide open while they buckled in their precious cargo, totally oblivious to the 300 other children having to walk in the road. There were a few times the buckle on DD's schoolbag clunked into cars, but I didn't feel the need to apologise.

One afternoon, I had a go at one "mum" for being a selfish idiot, and her friend actually chased after me and squared up to me, excusing her friend as she was "only picking her children up". I laughed in her face - and it felt good.

Closer to home, the twat next door to me, who has a van, insists on parking half on the pavement, even though no-one else in the street sees the need. I wouldn't mind, but he parks outside my window and while he is not doing anything illegal, it pisses me off no end. His lucky wife doesn't have that eyesore outside her living room.

''WTF Smells Like?!!! Wow. Was it another parent? Crazy.''

Yes it was tiddlyompom. Fortunately the other parent, the one who was hit wasn't badly injured - just a bit of bruising. Still, I hope she sued the arse off them.

When ds1 was 7 a selfish biatch in a mercedes parked on the pavement threw her door open smashing him in the head and tearing his ear. Blood everywhere. She was distraught - so sorry and she hadn't seen him. I took him to hospital where he was stitched up, v distressing for both of us.The next day she came up to me with her businessman husband in tow - I was expecting a box of chocs for ds or an apology/asking about how he was. No, she was just there so her husband could deny all responsibility for the accident and claim that my son ran into her car door!

And sadly - YonWHale's posts are very similar to the ones i got when i posted on this subject, that a car is ok parking on the pavement, so that it doesn't get scratched by car's driving past on a narrow road. But if i scratch it by pushing past with the buggy,... well that's not on at all.

Captain mummy READ MY POSTS PROPERLY. I DID NOT SAY THIS!!!!!

ARGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
