Or "marking my place" - particularly distasteful on a relationship thread

I do it to remind me if I've done that survey or not. Don't see a problem with it.

Dun dun dah!

QuickLookBusy · 07/05/2012 10:10

You are entitled to think what you like. I don't think your opinions would be shared with very many people, so you are on a minority.

YABU

Neither of these things bother me in the slightest.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 07/05/2012 10:29

I don't care about them either. And it frightens me a bit what seems to bother some people on here. I am probably annoying whole swathes of people on here everytime I post without knowing it.

Proudnscary · 07/05/2012 10:31

'marking my place' only annoys me because it's cringey Mumsnet speak and is so overdone - as is 'pulls up a chair' 'gets popcorn' 'you are so gonna get flamed for this' 'unmumsnetty hugs' etc

LynetteScavo · 07/05/2012 10:33

.

insancerre · 07/05/2012 10:38

I really don't care and I can't understand why anybody else would care either.

storminabuttercup · 07/05/2012 10:51

Nothing to add but marking my place

BalloonSlayer · 07/05/2012 10:56

I always thought that "Marking my place" meant "I have the exact same problem as you but I am too lazy embarrassed to start a thread of my own so I am going to gratefully read any advice you get."

eg

OP: My DH has asked me to dress as an Ewok and swing across the bedroom on a vine. He says this would be the ultimate turn on. He has already been to B&Q for a rope to act as the vine.
Poster1: WTAF?
Poster2: Leave the bastard
Poster3: Trip trap
Poster4: Marking my place

And I have only ever seen "done" on a thread asking people to fill out an online petition.

sairygamp · 07/05/2012 11:22

Possibly sidertracking but I asked to put up a petition or at least discuss it and was told no. So where are petitions on sn????

tethersend · 07/05/2012 11:37

Don

olibeansmummy · 07/05/2012 11:37

Done is fine as it lets the op know people are doing it for them. Marking my place or just . is just plain rude!

LadySybilDeChocolate · 07/05/2012 11:39

But you wrote it in the title, OP. Doesn't that make you a wanker? Wink

whackamole · 07/05/2012 11:44

YABU OP.

I have bookmarks enabled, but where do I find them after I have left the thread? I seem to click on bookmark and then when I come back to the thread I can't find it? Must be doing something wrong.

Pan · 07/05/2012 11:49

Nearly done. Just need to flush. thanks.

Pan · 07/05/2012 11:52

Or,
I'm Neally Dunne, a greengrocer from Dublin.

LeBOF · 07/05/2012 11:59

Don't get done, get Dom.

ACoiledThing · 07/05/2012 11:59

But my Don is so much sexier! (Tempted to over-use punctuation just to piss Mrs Angry Pants off but couldn't be bothered.)
