Today was at the bus stop with my baby saw a lady with two children take in consideration it's very cold and vert wet weather

She had what seemed like a toddler and a baby around 1 in a Parm

Baby in Parm had no rain cover was wearing just a top with trousers no shoes or socks and no COAT not even a blanket

Little girl had on jumper with a denim jack and tights with shoes yes people no skirt nothing just tight no not leggings just tights Confused

The chidren looked very cold I myself had baby in two blankets always hbring one spare plus she had snow suit and Rain cover I wanted to offer women my spare blanket for the baby friend said I shouldn't so I didn't now I feel really bad and have just been thinking how cold the kids must be Sad

I'm just imagining the post that the woman at the bus-stop might post...

"I feel terrible. I'd just got in from shopping. The babies were cold, wet and miserable, so I changed their clothes, and put the wet ones in the washing machine. I was just warming up some milk for them when the phone rang- it was the hospital! My Mum had had a heart attack and I was needed straight away. I knew there was a bus in 4 minutes, and not another for an hour, so I just picked up the toddler, got the baby in the pram and ran! It was only when I got to the bus stop that I realised the children didn't even have their coats Sad "

Other reasons why the woman's children might have been inadequately dressed:-
She had had the heating on inside and it was sunny outside, so she misjudged how cold it would be.
She was running away from domastic violence.
She was minding her sister's kids for the day and they had soiled their clothes. She was going out to buy them some new ones since her feckless sister had not provided spares (As my dearest sister did to me once Shock . She dropped off D nephew and he did an explosive poo just as I was getting him out of his snow suit. It went on absolutely evry item of clothing he had. I ended up wrapping him up in a towel to take him to the shop!).

There are so many reasons why the children were dressed as they were. The least likely one is that the Mum couldn't care less!

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 04/05/2012 22:45

I'm in the north too and DS would be suitably pissed off if I put him in his snowsuit. It's chilly, but not chilly enough for a snowsuit and 2 blankets. I can just about get him in his warm jacket and even then he kicks his legs definantly out his cosytoe when we are out and about. Maybe he simply doesn't feel the cold much?

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 04/05/2012 22:46

Or - Shock a man could have dressed the children.

Mrbojangles1 · 04/05/2012 22:46

amistillsexy I know that's why I didn't say anything wasn't sure, just hot that feeling what if she did need a blanket

Was it better to say nothing and just feel a bit Hmm or say somthing and have her turn me down or not

LingDiLong · 04/05/2012 22:47

Well that IS what I thought as I read your post...it's what I generally think when I read this kind of 'won't somebody think of the children' post.

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 04/05/2012 22:48

Better to offer your spare blanket if you were genuinely concerned. Think of the children

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 04/05/2012 22:48

funny x post!

Mrbojangles1 · 04/05/2012 22:49

DesperatelySeekingSedatives didn't read the post just said baby was not in snow suit two blankets baby had snow suit and one blanket I carry a senoned for spare just said its

Seriously though, you don't need a snow suit and a blanket in this weather.

CharltonHairstyle · 04/05/2012 22:50

I'm in Newcastle, my 10mo had baby-gro, GAP hoodie and a rain cover (in the foot muff, too)
They must have been freezing!

complexo · 04/05/2012 22:50

If you see my daughter...she usually starts the day with tights and skirts and ends up whitout skirts...and I have to fight with her for her to keep her coat on even in the winter...and she always asks me to go out wearing sandals no matter what is the weather..sometimes I just let her have a bit of control of what she wants to wear, it is not a big deal.

LingDiLong · 04/05/2012 22:51

And you don't need to carry an 'emergency' snow suit with you either. In May.

amistillsexy · 04/05/2012 22:51

If you are truly asking my opinion, then I would have to say that you needed to mind your own business.

I can well remember going out with a baby and a toddler (and a difficult 4 YO as well!), and if any nosy bugger had 'helpfully' offered me their PFB's spare blanket I'd have decked them, to be honest.

I think you might just have a little bit less to worry about than alot of other people.

Mrbojangles1 · 04/05/2012 22:51

Oh god I give up was very worried about these kids looked so cold

Didn't say anything but maybe thought I was a shit for not cant get any thoughts on that just comments about think of the children threads ECt

You need to let the blanket thing go! What do you think - if you'd offered it she may have fell at your feet and wept in gratitude? Or refused it and said ' no the brats can freeze!' You don't know her circumstances and in the absence of knowledge it's best to avoid leaping to the worst conclusions don't you think?

Mrbojangles1 · 04/05/2012 22:53

See why are you swearing

OP posts:
LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 04/05/2012 22:54

I repeat:

Seriously though, you don't need a snow suit and a blanket in this weather.

I think you are just as judgeable. Others might be thinking the same of you. Address this before criticising others.

Cashncarry · 04/05/2012 22:54

This thread is totally bizarre. The horror of the lack of Snowsuits and GAP (sic) hoodies....

Mrbojangles1 · 04/05/2012 22:54

Northernlurker that's why I didn't say anything

OP posts:
DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 04/05/2012 22:57

Fair enough wish I was as organised as you- especially when DS pushes his blanket out the buggy and it lands in a puddle Grin

SmileySusan · 04/05/2012 22:58

Up north it's 7c freezing

Down south it doesn't reach freezing point until 0c Grin

crunchbag · 04/05/2012 22:58

'Seems you can't ask anything aprt from the time with out snide or rude comments on here these days'

So why did you say: yes people no skirt nothing just tight no not leggings just tights?
That is just as rude and snide

cece · 04/05/2012 23:00

DS1 wore shorts today. Smile
