The film is The Lion King

Even when they're happy they're often noisy so no I wouldn't do it and I wouldn't be happy if the OP and her baby were sat anywhere near me either.

The thing is, cos it costs a small mortgage to get into the cinemas round here...I imagine any parent wouldn't just leave at the first happy or upset sound the baby made.

Therefore I'd probably spend much of the film distracted by it.

manicbmc · 04/05/2012 17:16

Tbh, I'd either go and see something else or go and do something else and take your ds to see the Lion King another time.

WorraLiberty · 04/05/2012 17:16

Surely having one extra child in the house isn't going to disturb your DH's day off?

How about soft play for a couple of hours or the park...then home to a DVD?

complexo · 04/05/2012 17:22

I wish it was a house. It is a very small flat where the noisy is carried around very easily and the 21 month old comes at 9am

And soft play will be much more expensive £15 in total and I'm not allowed to take my own food.

Oh I see, he's coming off a night shift?

You have my every sympathy. We've got a mainly open plan house and it's difficult to keep the kids from waking DH when he's trying to sleep.

Wouldn't be so bad if the weather was nice Sad

PoohBearsHole · 04/05/2012 17:28

It sounds like a childrens morning so actually I probably would and say to your ds you will go again if you have to leave.there will probably be lots of others there too so like a toddler morning group anyway Smile

"You can always let them run up and down the area by the door. " ONLY IF YOU WANT TO ANNOY EVERYONE ELSE. YES, PEOPLE NOTICE.

complexo · 04/05/2012 17:31

That is exactly the problem. Shit weather. I have so many nice parks and playfrounds around...yes it is a night shift.

My local cinema does mum and baby screenings, one of those would be ok.

redexpat · 04/05/2012 17:48

Don't they have baby cinema where you are?

complexo · 04/05/2012 17:58

It is a children's session 10 am only £1. I will check about baby cinema but I do think it is on another day and another cinema. Anyway, what I want to know is if it is gonna be too loud for the baby? Is it an acceptable noise for that age?

I think that seeing as it's an early morning reduced price children's session then it won't matter if her behaviour is less than exemplary.
If I attended a special kids showing I would expect a bit of getting up and down and fussiness from the children there.

If it was a normal full price showing then it would be different but I think under the circumstances she'll be fine,

gamerwidow · 04/05/2012 18:04

Not sure about noise levels can you give the cinema a ring and ask?

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 04/05/2012 18:18

I wouldn't go unless you are going to leave at the first noise the baby makes, and as you are clearly reluctant to do that because of your older child, you shouldn't go. You seem very concerned about the effect on the baby, but not at all concerned about the effect on others at the cinema. I find that very selfish, even if it is a screening that only costs a pound. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean other people won't expect to enjoy it.

Smugfearnleyshittingstool · 04/05/2012 18:39

Mine would be fine, but having a boob to quiet her down if needed helps!

DialsMavis · 04/05/2012 19:19

Fine at a children's showing. But, if she kicks off you will have to take her out to calm down for 5 mins and if that doesn't work then you should leave. Not fair otherwise. Good luck Smile

SCOTCHandWRY · 04/05/2012 19:35

DS4 18months, has been to the Cinema regularly since birth (and before) and has never caused a problem, if he did, I'd take him out. The noise, lights, the size of the screen etc transfix him, and when very young he'd just fall asleep within 10 or 15 min.

I think if he'd never been, and was going now for the first time, he'd be quite scared of it...... in that case I'd be sticking to the parent and toddler screenings they do (our multiplex even has a new parent and baby film club!), as upsetting the viewing of everyone else is not on - which is something the noisy yappy food throwing teens who are often at the cinema when we are there could do with realising!

SCOTCHandWRY · 04/05/2012 19:40

OUTRAGED...... err, the point of the £1 a go baby club is that it if FOR parents with small children and specifically so they don't have to be as concerned about every little noise their DC may make!

DialsMavis · 04/05/2012 19:46

Kids screenings for a £ on a sat morning are not directly aimed at really small children though are they? My DS and his friends go sometimes and feel very grown up going in without an adult. It wouldn't be fair on older children (spending pocket £ etc) if a baby was disrupting their enjoyment. Still YANBU though

Mrbojangles1 · 04/05/2012 19:52

Please don't my sister who has two kids and is a single parent who works saved up for a whole month to take her two kids to the pictures to see voyage of the dawn treader

Cost her £50 for the 3 of them occurring popcorn ECt and the whole way trough a baby was screaming and the lady was sat at the back and even though she tried to leave the fuss to get from the back to the exit baby kicking and struggling her bag then fell on the floor she nearly went head first down the stairs and really ruined it for all including my sister and her kids who can not often afford a trip to the pictures

If your certain a 2i month old can sit for almost 2 hours with out making noise or making a fuss then fine if your not sure then leave him at home

The oden do Mother and baby viewings in Tuesday's at 11am take him to that
