... Parent and child parking spaces BUT when walking past them in the Waitrose car park the other day, I had the urge to check out the back seats to see if there were child seats in them. WTF was that all about?

You have spent far too much time on MN.

So have I. Wink

Mrsjay · 30/04/2012 21:28

switch the internet off NOW Grin I dont really care but i did ask somebody if i was being unreasonable a few weeks ago Blush

Nevertooearlyforcake · 30/04/2012 21:32

I nearly used DD in a text to someone today (when relaying for the 50th time the nit infestation saga). Would have saved so much time Smile

Kayano · 30/04/2012 21:33

I take my baby carseat out the car to use the special car seat trollies so YABVU!

Mrsjay · 30/04/2012 21:33

I have nearly put DDs on facebook loads of times Hmm

Kayano · 30/04/2012 21:34

I say constantly

'it's not unreasonable...'
'I'm not ring unreasonable here...'
'is that reasonable?'

MyDogShitsShoes · 30/04/2012 21:38

Ineed italics and MN smileys for my texts.

I am suddenly unable to express myself without them!

CrispyCod · 01/05/2012 00:08

Well had you checked my car whilst I was parked in the parent & child space you wouldn't have spotted my baby seat as I don't have a baby or toddlers. I do find those spots most convenient though!

messalina · 01/05/2012 00:09

I always check too and have been known to report number plates of offenders to security guards. They have made announcements on tannoy. Hugely satisfying. If quite bitchy.

doormat · 01/05/2012 00:10

i still park in them with ds and he is 11...go on shoot me down Grin as far as i am aware the legal definition for a child is up to when they reach 18....

somewherewest · 01/05/2012 04:02

I was waiting to board a plane recently when the usual announcement inviting passengers with young children to come forward first for boarding was made. Cue a woman pushing to the front with her (very sullen) 14yo Grin

Moominsarescary · 01/05/2012 06:45

messalina huge pain in the arse when you have the car seat in the shop with you and you have to rush over to find out what has happened to your car, only to be told some silly women has been complaining about the lack of car seat .

Are people realy so petty

bejeezus · 01/05/2012 07:05

I refer to my children as dd1 and dd2 Blush

gettingalifenow · 01/05/2012 07:32

Well, my DS is 21 so doesn't need a car seat. In fact, he sometimes drives me Wink

DoBuggerOrf · 01/05/2012 09:00

I left a (polite) note on a BMW that was taking up two parent and child spaces for no reason. Didn't even appear to have a car seat. I would of never done that before.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 01/05/2012 09:45

I need italics and MN smileys for my texts. I am suddenly unable to express myself without them! me too Mydogshitsshoes and I have to fight the urge to put things in

SarahBumBarer · 01/05/2012 09:49

Ha ha - it still does not bother me (I have a toddler) although I do appreciate the convenience of them when I get one. I was amazed however when a few weeks ago as we were heading back to the car at MacDonalds (yes with the toddler and I know IABU for that Grin) DH suddenly strode off back into the restaurant and when quizzed him about it it was to raise the issue with some woman (very politely because that is his way) about her using a p&C space with clearly no children. Clearly he has been spending too much time on MN Blush

TheOneWithTheHair · 01/05/2012 09:49

I fight the urge to put dd, ds and dh into texts. It's so much quicker. I need smileys too

redexpat · 01/05/2012 09:50

When you talk to DP do you start conversations with "on MN today..." ?

MustControlFistOfDeath · 01/05/2012 09:51

messalina I always check too and have been known to report number plates of offenders to security guards. They have made announcements on tannoy. Hugely satisfying. If quite bitchy.

That is a joke, right? Shock

pantaloons · 01/05/2012 09:52

I keep putting the crossing out marks on emails, I really need them!

TheOneWithTheHair · 01/05/2012 09:52

redexpat I start with "There was a thread today*. I also sometimes think in thread titles. Blush

pantaloons · 01/05/2012 09:58

When ds was 3 weeks old and dd1 was 17 months I went to Tesco and incredibly managed to park in a P&C space. I put them both in a combined trolley and did the business. When I got back to my car some knob wipe employee had stuck an A4 poster on the windscreen on the drivers side telling me not to abuse the facility. You'd think there is no bigger clue to having children in a car than 2 empty car seats, but no!

The customer service lady got a bit of an earache and the car park bloke had to scrub the poster off. God only knows what he had stuck it on with! Idiot man!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 01/05/2012 12:47

When you talk to DP do you start conversations with "on MN today..." ? Oh yes... and I usually get a sigh and an eye roll Smile

LoonyRationalist · 01/05/2012 14:12

I never get embroiled in P&T debates but some idiots seem not to understand that the time you really need the P&T spaces is when you are getting the baby seat in & out without tipping it at a horrible angle because you have a young sleeping baby in it; therefore leaving a car that to all intents & purposes looks as if it has no children.

Even though the majority of you will have done it when out with only babies -bonkers.

Parking in P&T with an 11 year old is selfish, I have a 5 & 3 year old and no longer feel I need them. At my supermarket there is a path all the way along the edge of the carpark, we park really really far away as that way we can ensure we don't have to walk across a busy carpark.
