Hi, I bought my nephew one of your child size shepherds' pies. I luckily tasted it before I was going to it to him. The level of sweetness was completely unneccessary. The meat used was of very poor quality with lots of gristly lumps, including one half an inch long. I wouldn't buy food of that low quality for myself, let alone a child. Please can you explain this?

Do it!
I can't stand her.

Sirzy · 30/04/2012 18:14

You can send it but I doubt you will get much response, children's meals like that are generally very poor quality Unfortunatly.

bigjoeent · 30/04/2012 18:22

Yes, they don't taste very nice, try the M&S or Little dish ones

Belleflowers · 30/04/2012 18:22

make your own next time, you'll save £££ too

lisaro · 30/04/2012 18:23

Ha ha, Netto I'd already sent it - I should have said 'to HAVE sent'. Really though - I'm disgusted by what they think they can get away with putting in a meal specifically for children.

DS2 is 10 and just hearing the name Annabel Karmel makes me stabby even now. I had her wall planner with her grinning face on it while I tried to get him to eat stuff. Angry

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 30/04/2012 18:24

Why don't you make your own? Much nicer!

lisaro · 30/04/2012 18:25

I normally would, Belle, it was just extreme circumstances over the weekend.

Sparklingbrook
I love the phrase "makes me stabby".

TattyDevine · 30/04/2012 18:28

Yep get a big tube of horses cock Chubb Chicken Dinner from the pet food aisle and save some £££

Sparklingbrook · 30/04/2012 18:28

I hear it quite a lot on here Kevin, it sums up angry feelings very nicely. Grin

lisaro · 30/04/2012 18:28

It was really dear - I thought the quality would have been good - might as well have bought him a bloody donner kebab!
I've just bought a new fridge freezer - had nothing in and after coming home from work had to get (great) nephew as niece thought she'd broken her leg.

It was her nonsense about teaching her son's wives to cook for them that made me want to kill her, well that and the lychee stones nonsense and her hideous, overly bouffy, hair

yousankmybattleship · 30/04/2012 18:31

Great email! Could you send a follow up one letting her know that actually life's too short for making faces in pizzas, armadillos out of jacket potatoes etc etc and that if you bring your children up properly there's no need for that condesending shit anyway.

gazzalw · 30/04/2012 18:33

We once did a trial of AK ready made meals with DS (when he was about 4). Well had to do very full feedback and we didn't get so much as a token in appreciation of the week we'd spent testing the products.

And they were not very nice. DS was (not so much now) a fussy eater of the highest order and the AK meals most certainly didn't tickle his tastebuds (or ours).

Home-made is so much nicer, tastier and more wholesome!

I think she's well over-hyped as a brand. DW slavishly used her baby cookbooks but pretty much decided after using them for DS that it was the strange flavour combos that had made him into a fussy-eater. Needless to say she didn't use with DD who loves her food!

Feminine · 30/04/2012 18:37

I have a lot of time for her.

Lets not forget she lost her daughter when she was a baby.

I think her work/ recipes are cathartic for her...they is no law forcing us to try her things...

However, if she is selling rubbish food...well that does need addressing.

Maybe she is unaware?

BawbagBiggins · 30/04/2012 18:40

I saw her at the weekend and she looks like she could do with a slap up meal herself to be honeat. How anyone who looks like a walking skeleton can give out nutrional and dietry advice is beyond me!

JustFab · 30/04/2012 18:43

Don't be ridiculous! Someone who has made a fortune on weaning books and the like does not unknowingly seel shite food.

JustFab · 30/04/2012 18:44

sell, not seel.

AnonymousBird · 30/04/2012 18:44

Please try Junior's Pantry, available at Ocado brand new range

The Paella shown is very very tasty, as are the others. We were involved in the product testing and tasting and my kids went wild for these!!!!

AnonymousBird · 30/04/2012 18:45

PS Juniors Pantry getting fantastic reviews at Ocado too!

Feminine · 30/04/2012 18:47

justfab sometimes quality control goes wrong.

That is life.

Why are you all being so cruel?

Some of you don't like her ready meals ...what has that got to do with her hair or weight? Confused

Women are their own worst enemies sometimes....

CremeEggThief · 30/04/2012 18:47

DH and I used to love her recipes, but fussy DS wouldn't touch them! And so began a year or so of potato waffles, vegetarian sausages and frozen sweetcorn and peas for tea... Mind you, even that sounds healthier than the pie you were unfortunate to try!

YANBU to send the email.

Feminine · 30/04/2012 18:48

sorry not all of the comments have been cruel...but you get the point!

lisaro · 30/04/2012 18:49

BTW, I kept the large lump in the freezer - I may go to trading standards tomorrow.
