Hi, I bought my nephew one of your child size shepherds' pies. I luckily tasted it before I was going to it to him. The level of sweetness was completely unneccessary. The meat used was of very poor quality with lots of gristly lumps, including one half an inch long. I wouldn't buy food of that low quality for myself, let alone a child. Please can you explain this?

If you complain to the retailer you bought it from you will get a refund and probably done loyalty points. And they will pass on the letter. I did buy these meals for a while and occasionally I did get a dodgy one - it was chicken, rice and veg with only 1 type of veg when it should of had 3!

BikeRunSki · 30/04/2012 18:52

I had one of her weaning books from the libraey for DS as a new mum. It recommended soft boiled eggs for a six month old. This went against NHS advice and I have shunned her and her products since.

lisaro · 30/04/2012 18:52

Sooty I unfortunately bough it in Morrisons in Bradford. The local shops have no concept of customer service, don't think they've changed it since they first opened up.

I have never heard of this woman. Doesn't stop me having an opinion on her food though. Food marketed as being for children is invariably rubbish because, for some reason, we think we should be able to feed kids for next to nothing. This was presumably an expensive premium product that you have every right to expect will be made from high quality ingredients. Please come back and tell us what the company response is.

lisaro · 30/04/2012 18:56

I definitely will, fallen.

AceOfBase · 30/04/2012 18:58

I would like to point out that on the film on the top of said shepherds pie it says "may contain small bones" which is why I will not buy one!

fallenangle · 30/04/2012 18:58

Just seen your post about Morrisons. I ve always found their customer service to be great. But Maybe there being a Waitrose down the road ups their game.

JustFab · 30/04/2012 19:01

Which Bradford Morrisons?

Frontpaw · 30/04/2012 19:03

Ready made kids food always taste like poo. I have bought a couple when I have been really pushed for time and every time regretted it.

I do find her recipes have fat too much fat and sweeteners.

Girlington, JustFab. Horrible place.

fallen I know they are better in other places, but this one is awful.

Not the one I used to work in a life time ago then!

Sirzy · 30/04/2012 19:10

When I need a quick meal for DS I have found that tesco mini meals designed for adults with small appetites are much nicer than any special kids meals.

SootySweepandSue · 30/04/2012 19:11

Lisa - write to head office with a nice pic and a copy of the receipt. Tell them it was inedible and you think something went wrong when it was made. I'm sure you'll get something !

StateofConfusion · 30/04/2012 19:14

Fwiw I loved the ak books as a rough 'guide' not a bible. My dcs still love some of the recipes I use from her books, as do me and dp. And I plan to use them again with dc.3

However it seems a little bizare she advocates home cooking and then produces ready meals...

fallenangle · 30/04/2012 19:15

Email the Morrisons corporate customer services instead of going to the store. I'd say it reflects badly on the company that they have this low quality food on their shelves. How have I missed hearing of this AK woman?

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 30/04/2012 19:17

Sirzy - what is the salt content like?

Feminine - her weight and looks have nothing to do with it, you are right - but they have no more or less to do with it than the fact she lost her baby daughter - which you seemed to think was relevant to this discussion?!

Her name makes me 'Stabby' she has had many stressed mothers following her recipies only to realise (when the baby fug has passed) that it's not necessary to spend hours making her overly complicated recipies.

MarySA · 30/04/2012 19:29

I bet she feeds her family on Tesco value tinned stuff at home. I hate those smug know all types trying to tell the rest of us they can do it sooooooooooo much better. Grrrrr!!!

LetsKateWin · 30/04/2012 19:45

I bought the book because of the hype, but I stopped using it because of the strange flavour combos.

I'll be watching this thread to find out what response you get.

Feminine · 30/04/2012 19:46

chippingmaybe its just something about me then.

When I know someone has suffered at some time or another, I tend to let them off most other stuff...

:)

yousankmybattleship · 01/05/2012 18:08

Feminine I feel very sorry if she has suffered losses in her life, but so have other people and they don't start poncing about making money from rediculously over complicated recipes and rubbish ready meals and generally being smug pains in arses.

OP I hope you get somewhere with your complaint. It is about time she was knocked off her pear, carrot and blueberry pedestal!

lisaro · 01/05/2012 18:14

Can I just say something in my defence - I'd never even heard of her!

OP posts:
DysonsAreForever · 01/05/2012 18:16

She is a smug cow!

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2012 18:18

If it wasn't for that wall planner I may have made a better job of weaning DS1.
