I have no choice but to take her with me but I just hate the stress that is involved. She has reached the age where she is too big for pram/buggy to big for reigns although sometimes I use a "little life" bag with a reign attached.

I just hate the anxiety of trying to keep her safe near roads. I know one day she is going to have to learn that traffic can be dangerous and I do make her hold hands to cross the road.

I don't know if my anxiety comes from me being involved in a traffic accident as a child so maybe that makes me extra worried.

You have my sympathy, hate school run full stop but 3 year old makes it harder! Mine still goes in her buggy because she sounds the same as yours! I don't do the straps up so she can hop in and out.

Ooh I could pop DS2 in the trolley too if he starts carrying on. Nice one!

I make my 3 year old DS go in the buggy for school runs; he refuses to hold my hand and throws himself on the floor if he has to wear his little life back pack, so the buggy it is! Also with school runs I prefer to get from A to B as quickly as possible and if DS walks it takes ages.

How about a different approach and try a scooter but with VERY clear ground rules. Dd2 has been scooting on school run since she was 2.8. She keeps well away from kerbs and stops well before roads we have to cross, because otherwise mean mummy removes her scooter, even if she tantrums about it. We get a chance to practice road safety every time. I have a pushchair still, but she only goes in it when she's off colour and i have to take her with me (maybe once evry couple of months). For her, it was all about being in control herself.
