should be just that. not for any one else.

i don't even care that they are not by the door but having the extra space at the side is a safety issue especially when your like me and have two little ones and have to strap one in while the other is in a buggy or trolley. i have list count if the amount of times i have seen people (usually the elderly with no blue badge) using them.

gets my goat.

i would rather the p & t spaces to be on the outer edge of the car park. i don't need it to be nearer just wider.

BTW disabled should be by the door for obvious reasons.

and yes i do use normal spaces when i have too.

Got a feeling my lone boycotting isn't going to change the car park layout but hey ho.

My parents both have blue badges as neither can walk at all without pain, and can manage 10m at a time with sticks/crutches. The supermarket they go to has a parking attendent who will instruct them to park in P&C if the disabled area is full.
And some total bitch went up to dad and screamed at this elderly, frail man that he shouldn't park there. But the parking man went and gave her a bollocking Grin

Just take two normal spaces as a kind of silent protest!

bronze · 23/04/2012 16:06

I don't drive so don't give a monkeys about spaces
And when I do pass the car will have sliding doors so I will just climb out and in through there if it's tight Grin

But I do wish drivers were more careful when driving around carparks. I've nearly been hit a few times because they're so busy looking for a free (p&c) space Grin

Maybe take away all p&c and use the extra space to put better paths in

titfortat · 23/04/2012 16:16

DuelingFanjo, because, trying to get a P&T space is ridiculous. On the odd occasions I have gone to drive over to one, you get other cars trying to beat you to it. THAT in itself is not only stupid and pathetic, but dangerous.

So therefore, I stay away from them and hope to christ that someone will see I have a baby car seat in the back and allow me more than an inch to get him in.

P&T is basically the same as Parent and Child, but Parent and Toddler.

Dawndonna · 23/04/2012 19:10

yawn.

ilovesooty · 23/04/2012 19:21

To get a full house don't we have to have a mention of whether it's OK to eat the supermarket grapes before you've paid for them? Grin

What a pointless thread, it's like Groundhog day on here sometimes.

Sauvignonblanc - what a pointless post. If we bore you, just find another thread!

Some car parks now have signs to say that people who don't park within the white lines will get fined so be careful. On a recent day out my stepdad wouldn't have it that there was anything wrong with his parking so when we got to the carpark entrance and pointed out the sign he had to walk all the way back to the far end to move the car 6 inches. Maybe he'll listen to us in future Grin. (and no I didn't volunteer because I've never driven an automatic and didn't think a busy car park was a good place to start Wink).

ScarlettAlexandra · 23/04/2012 20:13

its just being sensible and aware of other motorists. also if you park wonky and someone parks correctly next to you, you won't get out of the space (learned this the hard way, when i first started to drive.)

TidyDancer · 23/04/2012 20:51

I have two DCs and I wish P&C parking spaces didn't exist. There is no huge need for them. The only reason I'm pleased they are there is so that they can be treated as an overspill for disabled parking areas.

OP, in case it wasn't clear by now, YABU.

ShellyBoobs · 23/04/2012 21:40

OMG yakbutter, some of the language in used on that website you posted a link to is appalling!

I'm mentally noting the best insults and hope to use some of them here very soon. Grin

GreenEggsAndNichts · 24/04/2012 13:44

Thought this was an appropriate thread to share my excitement over having ordered my groceries online for the first time. Grin Wine

welliebobs · 24/04/2012 14:30

Greenegg did you order it on line whilst parked in a parent and child space tho? [Grin]

These threads annoy me, I don't think the op is being unreasoable to expect people without children to not use these spaces.

It makes life easier if u have a small child to have more space and I think it is rude and selfish to use that space if u do not have a child.

Its quiet simple if u don't have kids don't use the space that the supermarket has provided for parents and kids. If u are not disabled don't use the disabled space. If u are disabled and there is no spaces of course use the parent and child space.

Its about everyone having respect for each other, which is sadly missing in the world today.

Sprogged · 24/04/2012 15:33

Nope. I think that all the car park spaces should be wide enough that you can open the bloody door and get out the car. If they aren't I don't shop there, but then I'm lucky enough to live near a nice big retail park and have the choice. Tbh I have never seen the elderly use the P&C spaces in the big supemarket I had to stop shopping in, it was always young and middle aged able bodied people.
