to think parent and child spaces

should be just that. not for any one else.

i don't even care that they are not by the door but having the extra space at the side is a safety issue especially when your like me and have two little ones and have to strap one in while the other is in a buggy or trolley. i have list count if the amount of times i have seen people (usually the elderly with no blue badge) using them.

gets my goat.

I park where I fancy, just not in a disabled spot.

BigHairyFlowers · 23/04/2012 14:55

Dammit, it's school run time. Thinking about it, the school car park has no parent and child spaces, even though everyone there has children. What's that about then eh? eh?

MamaMaiasaura · 23/04/2012 14:55

mynameisfuxlingwarren you utter utter bastard. I had my dd sleeping beautifully In my arms while mnetting and your post made me shudder with silent laughter so much I woke her up. I may have to report you Grin

Ok I had an 18 month old and a newborn and a DP working away alot. And then a newborn, 2 year old (With the mobility issues) and a 3 year old.

This is how I managed.

Open passenger door, get 2 year old out. Place two year old in passenger seat. Have 8 month old behind passenger seat. Remove 8 month old out of car, close door. Open passenger door and get 2 year old out. Get two year old to hold your hand and walk to trolley or buggy. Place 8 month old in and then 2 year old.

Both children safely transfered to trolley and have never left your side.

HTH

I'm evil I am - I use the p&c places at the gym, because lotherwise how do those parents expect their little fat bastards to get fit eh? They need a brisk walk before their tennis/swimming/whatever session surely.

I had a disabled women ask me to move and park somewhere else so she could have the parent and child space as there were no disabled spaces. Fool that I am I moved but getting three kids out of a car safely and across a car park was not the easiest thing in the world!!

Oh FGS! Are you utterly incapable?

AvocadoAndFitch · 23/04/2012 15:00

Maryz think you can call house now

Nobhead · 23/04/2012 15:01

It honestly pisses me off too. I had a moan on here about 3 years ago about it but I got the flaming of a life time- I quickly learned my lesson Grin

i only have the internet on my phone, so cant shop online. i will only leave them with my family which live miles away (an hours drive) and a sitter would cost a fortune so not an option either.

its not a crime to shop with your children thats what p & t spaces are for Hmm

SeaHouses · 23/04/2012 15:05

Seriously, if you get to the supermarket and there are no spaces, do you just drive home again with no shopping?

RIZZ0 · 23/04/2012 15:05

Maryz if you're really lucky there's be a kids-and-their-dirty-feet-in-the-trolley-outrage later on too.

sixlostmonkeys · 23/04/2012 15:06

get internet at home? go to other shops? lots of alternatives rather than wait for the world to stop taking your parking space

sairygamp · 23/04/2012 15:06

That just made me laugh out loud!

MackerelOfFact · 23/04/2012 15:10

Surely you just park next to an empty space? Am I missing something? Do people honestly just ram their car into spaces without first checking that the space is empty (of cars, children, trollies or anything else)?

Birdsgottafly · 23/04/2012 15:12

Life's a doddle if you've got a car and a fully working body.

The only resaon that P&C spaces are needed is for extra room, if you don't need the extra room to get out of the car, you don't need a P&C space.

You can re-organise yourself to manage children, for the very short space that they are young, that is so easy compared to being disabled year in year out and as you age it impacts on that

mrfreeze · 23/04/2012 15:13

Im 8 months pregnant, with severe spd so am on crutches, i sometimes park in them but if there are none i just park elsewhere and manage just fine. i certainly wouldnt sit in the car waiting for one to become available 9as ive seen before now)

im sure when the baby pops out ill carry on doing the same and to be honest if you cant manage getting children out of a car in a normal sized space i dont think you should be driving.

i already hate p&c spaces and think they should be scrapped as it causes too much hassle, those looking for a fight in the car park, or those with cars too big for them and theyre paranoid about parking in a normal sized space!

AvocadoAndFitch · 23/04/2012 15:14

Scarlett people aren't saying you shouldn't use P&T spaces when they are free, its your sense of entitlement that is the issue.

To think parent and child spaces should be just that. not for any one else. thats your original question that we are answering. Only you have suggested we are telling you to never use them.

daisyrain · 23/04/2012 15:14

Can I use one, If my Dad is with me? Although im 38,
its technically still parent & child :)
