Actually i know i an not being unreasonable. I don't know what's been done to it before it goes into its box.

Husband says its weird but no its not, he is just a filthy minge

My mum, god bless her, was a bit antsy about germs. When she visited me in London, she could only go to the loo at harrods if we were out, regardless of where we were or what we were doing.and I think she was known to disinfect toothbrushes. Also washed bars of soap after washing her hands. She did admit she had odd habits though.

Grin at 'filthy minge'

OP, do you suspect that a rogue packer might have stuck a random assortment of toothbrushes off the conveyor belt up his arse, or something?

Would you not expect such a toothbrush to bear traces of, um, evidence if this sort of untoward behaviour had occured?

Oh, and keeping used toothbrushes in cases is truly minging. YABU.

ITS NOT ABOUT THE BLOODY GERMS!!

So, what do you think sterilising is for?
Chemicals? Confused

ScrambledSmegs · 20/04/2012 09:46

Hahahahaha!

You fruit loop Grin

ReshapeWhileDamp · 20/04/2012 09:50

Madmouse - yy, that's right - I've heard lots of official sanitary types wearily insist that people who wash chickens under taps are loons, as they are merely spraying the surrounding area with salmonella-infected droplets of water. If you cook a chicken at the correct heat, all nasties are erradicated.

ragged · 20/04/2012 09:51

Would you sterilise each and every other thing that goes in your mouth?
I could kind of understand a good rinse of new toothbrush to get rid of loose chemical residues.

Bunbaker · 20/04/2012 09:54

"I some times give chicken a bit of wash"

You shouldn't. Washing chicken splashes the germs around everywhere. you would then have to use bleach/anti bac on your sink, draining board and work surface afterwards. Cooking the chicken kills of any pathogens anyway. If you must clean your chicken I would use a damp piece of kitchen towel to wipe it and then dispose of it immediately - the towel not the chicken Grin

Fortunately I got over it and went on to have children and bea competant cook, but it was touch and go for several years. Grin

How about things like shower gel, face cream or make up. How do you mange with these. For all you know the factory worker might be taking a piss in the vats of shower gel.

YunoYurbubson · 20/04/2012 10:24

Even I'm not with you on this OP, and I'm the fraek who washes yogurts before putting them in my children's packed lunches.
