So the headline on ahem 'The Sun' is 'JESSIE GAY'

(disclaimer - mother works in newsagents, not a paper I would read)

AIBU to think 'it's 2012, who the hell cares?' by having such a massive headline it makes it seem like its some massive secret thing, like it's a huge shocking thing!

I just think its not a big deal... Or at least it shouldn't be sensationalist headline material. People are allowed to be gay ffs. (I don't know if it's true having not read the article but really... What does it matter?! I'll still buy her music because sexual preference does
Not affect her voice!)

Don't know why it got me so wound up but really... AIBU to think it shouldn't be a front page headline?

YANBU, but why healines that is not new news, JJ has openly had relationships with woman AFIK anyway.

Jessie J wears a wig a lot of the time but apparently her natural hair is quite shiny.

I don't care if she is lesbian, straight or bisexual, her music rocks my socks!

P.S. She calls herself bisexual, so I'll take her word for it.

EightiesChick that's what I thought too! Can't possibly have a pop star not catering to soft porn male fantasies.

I hope she embraces it. I've been trying to think of lesbian celebrities in the UK and not doing that well, surely gay women are underrepresented in popular culture;

Mary Portas (though I understand Mary identifies as bisexual rather than lesbian, but she is married to a woman so can I count her?)

Any more? Seems a shame that there's so few and all those women are over 35 if not 40 - surely there are loads of talented/likeable young women who happen to be lesbian trying to make their way in TV/pop music, so where are they all/

There's nothing to embrace, well not in terms of her being a lesbian because she says she isn't. She's been very honest and open that she's dated both men and women before.

It's because it's seen as a bit sexy by men to b a lesbian. I know most poor blokes honestly see it as a potential threesome as 2 ( and of course gorgeous looking) lesbians ask him to join in. Actually that could just be my dh?

I think it can only be a good thing that a young, pretty, current and successful female singer/TV star is gay / bi.

Lots of teenage girls might have come home from school today, seen those headlines and thought "I'm not odd, it's OK to feel like I do".

Now we just need the gay premiership footballers to come out and problem solved.

There's a newsreader as well (can't remember her name.) who was about to be outed by the press so had to out herself first. But Valerie Singleton is not a lesbian.

I'm disappointed it's a wig as I clung to the idea that it's possible to have hair that shiny. Like Sally Fields in that 70s TV programme (can't remember the name of that either)

We still live in a society where if asked to describe a lesbian, most people would go on about short hair,hairy legs and dungarees. I think it's fantastic that confident, glamorous women are coming out.

No I meant as in: why does the newspapers feel that it gets a front page when there is civil war in Syria? Its hardle world changing news, is it? It's not a newspaper, it's a gossip rag.
