I'm nosey.

I looked through the history on MY laptop and found a porn site - with what looks like quite a few videos watched. I laughed at first and asked him when he'd been watching it, you dirty dog etc - to which he replied he hadn't and when would he have the time? The only time he would have the time would be when he sometimes can't sleep and tidies up downstairs ... and goes on ebay ... hmmmmm!

I've checked the properties and a few videos have been visited more than once but it only lists todays date and I can't find the time/date they were watched - does anyone know if you can do this?

Since I asked him the website hasnt been visited since! And I don't think he knows how to delete the history.

What is really eating me up is that I have the blatant truth in front of me on the laptop yet he swears blind he's not been on there. This now makes me doubt our entire relationship regarding other things I may have asked him if he's lying over something as small (well it WAS a small issue) as this.

What do you all think? and are there any web/computer wizz kids out there that can help me find out when they were viewed?

There are ways to check exactly when he looked at what...

But in a healthy relationship you really shouldn't want to be checking up on him and he shouldn't be lying.

Finding out that he watched Shaving Ryans Privates at 12:03am on Monday is not going to make things better or worse.

You need to sort out the deeper issues here like you don't trust him and he lies to you. The two are a bit chicken and egg but you need to break the cycle.

Mind you - if you are with someone who hasn't worked out in private browsing yet, I'd say the porn's the least of your worries.

Why were you going through your own browsing history? I sometimes do this after too much wine. Did you have wine? It makes me laugh when people say there dp or dh has never looked at porn. Maybe they keep those parts in a jar. Yanbu to expect him to not lie, but maybe he's not.

Maybe it's more the kind of porn he was looking at that has led to him lying, can you see what genre it was? Probably just plain embarrassment at being caught looking at GILF/Dwarf/Watersports/whatever porn and lied as was caught on the hop?

Unless it was something nasty like kiddie stuff or snuff/rape stuff then I'd just leave it OP. I doubt he'll be looking at stuff on your laptop in future.

OP, I think you shouldn't have mentioned it. If you don't have a problem with it, why embarras him?

People lie when they feel (rightly or wrongly) that its easier or better than telling the truth, in a nutshell.

Who 'checks' their own history? What are you actually 'checking' for? Surely you know what you've looked at? Therefore I think you must have already decided to check up on him before you even found this? How come?

I get that you'd be frustrated that he lied when challenged directly, but also see why he might not want to share this - like others have said, some things are allowed to be private. My DP is rubbish at deleting history. I'm pregnant and tired at the moment and often go to bed before him. I know he often looks at porn when I do this. A couple of times I've bought it up and we've had a giggle about it, but he finds it embarrassing, so most of the time I just don't raise it - why not let him have that 'private' thing, and what's to gain in 'admitting' it if I genuinely haven't got an issue with it?
