Well am I?

Butterscratching is such an abhorrent habit, am sure could be achieved with a spoon, or spork. My FIL butterscratches but that's another thread

There is no crumbs in my butter.

Nothing sticks to the spoon, it all glides off lovely on the bread, and attaches no crumbs! :)

But eating what? Nobody, not even the under-gardener, would eat asparagus with cutlery. Gulls' eggs, ditto.

Alargeglassofred · 17/04/2012 23:47

But does your under-gardener hold his knife correctly?

One does not dine with the under-gardener. So, dunno, basically.

tinkertitonk · 18/04/2012 00:05

Alarge, quite likely, he is very charming in certain other respects. Baroness, I don't think he dines; rather, he speaks of having "tea", but I don't think he means the same thing as do you and I.

Alargeglassofred · 18/04/2012 00:11

Is he a milk and 2 sugars man tinkertionk?

OP posts:
thatisall · 18/04/2012 00:20

what is an under gardener?

Alargeglassofred · 18/04/2012 00:31

Mine tends my lady garden....but I digress

OP posts:
thatisall · 18/04/2012 01:12

I did think that....not a job for a spork I suspect

Threeprinces · 18/04/2012 07:27

This thread has made me chuckle!

But OP, I agree with you. Cutlery usage by the masses is a declining art and that is a great shame indeed.

I am often amazed by the lack of cutlery skills of my DS's playmates, with 8/11yos who haven't a clue how to properly cut with a knife let alone hold it properly. I do think it is a basic skill that should be taught by parents at a fairly young age then it is ingrained for life.

GeneHuntsMistress · 18/04/2012 07:38

It should be legal to shoot anyone who holds their knife like a pen.

Yabu about 'utilisation' of cutlery - it is 'use'.
