says something loud to their off spring so that everyone around can hear and then look for reactions from the nearby people.

"Oh! Johnny how clever of you to know that the green man means you should walk across the road" cue smug expression to anyone near enough, and waits for reaction.

she's worth her weight in gold LeQueen. I haven't seen her in a while but when I do bump into her in town I have a little chuckle about her loudly getting little Hugo to recite his French counting in the middle of Boots!

Yep, I totally know what you mean about the Pizza Express thing. I also find soft play centres are a good place to seek loud parents out. You can hear them a mile off as they interact so marvellously with little Jemima!

I saw a parent with a toddler in MacDonalds.

As they sat down, someone the Mum knew walked in and said hello to them both.

Cue Mum announcing very loudly to her toddler...."NOW OLIVER, THIS IS A TREAT FOR YOU. YOU'RE NOT NORMALLY ALLOWED JUNK FOOD."

To which Oliver replied, "BUT MUMMY, WE CAME HERE YESTERDAY!"

Yep mine is totally true, helloclitty. I've never met anyone else in my life like this woman though!

helloclitty · 15/04/2012 19:05

Well next time I'm feeling a bit bored I will certainly bee line for the nearest pizza express and request to be seated near any kids wearing Boden! It is amusing indeed!

Excellent Wink

Do you think there's a niche in the market? Grin

poppy1914 · 15/04/2012 19:11

No, you're not a bad person. In fact, it is a relief to me to know that there are 'normal' people like you out there!!

I recently had to endure a 4 hour flight back to the UK with 'Earth Mother Extraordinaire' and her two vile offspring sitting behind me. The entire aircraft had to suffer her and her spawn singing 'kiddy' songs at the tops of their whining voices, games of Eye Spy at full volume, tantrums a-plenty and, to add insult to mounting fury, her son continuously kicked my seat from the minute we took off to the minute we landed, despite my very diplomatic and almost apologetic request that she ask him to stop!!

I am not ashamed to admit that my duty free vodka bottle came perilously close to being smashed across her inconsiderate, smug head but I hate to waste alcohol....

Wolfiefan · 15/04/2012 19:11

Perhaps try Waitrose. Now remember we want organic artichokes. We don't want those nasty pesticides do we? Can you say pesticides? Oh clever boy. So linguistically gifted!

BoffinMum · 15/04/2012 19:12

People feed their children CHIPS?

My DCs wouldn't know what to do with a CHIP!

Grin
BoffinMum · 15/04/2012 19:14

I often want to assault such people on aircraft without getting caught. I have fantasies about secretly covering their tops in lipstick through the crack in the seats. Wink

helloclitty · 15/04/2012 19:14

Has anyone ever had the reverse bragging too. Say if the child hasn't done well in a subject at school or isn't in the top set, they start the reverse bragging. I have had this even though I haven't even mentioned anything about school or sets ever to this person.

"I don't push my little child, Oh no! I think children should be children, academics are not important to us...."

manicbmc · 15/04/2012 19:14

I might just have to pop into Waitrose. You don't get so much PP in this neck of the woods, apart from at school. We do get the occasional parent who will loudly extol their love for their child at drop off time. You can then witness the same parent cuffing the child around the head and calling them a bastard at pick up time.

exoticfruits · 15/04/2012 19:15

I love PPs-what would we do without a laugh!

but... i do do this, i praise everything as a relfelx action. i dont look round though, and if i do, its to check that no-one is eavesdropping an a private conversation between me and my dd.

BUT this is because i genuinely believe that kids dont care wether the attention they get is good or bad so long as they get the attention. (how many times have you said 'take that smile off your face' when you are shouting at the kids? they are happy to get attention and dont care if its bad attention)

i would rather someone overheard me say, ' you used your judgement well' after crossing the road that ' fucking look at that! you stupid bugger, you nearly got yourself killed'
