helloclitty · 15/04/2012 16:13

you waiting 30 mins to spend exactly 4 minutes cutting your hair 12 mins drying it and then charge £60?
Is this not daylight robbery? Or AIBU?

YANBU and no way would they get paid that, surely you checked first. Mine is £60-70 for multi coloured highlights taking 2-3hrs.

Mrsrobertduvall · 15/04/2012 16:16

Was it Headmasters? [bitter]
love the name op.

Hassled · 15/04/2012 16:16

I've walked out of a hairdressers who kept me sat there for 20 minutes without so much as an apologetic look. I did a good flounce as I left, too.

Don't go back, and tell all your friends why.

YusMilady · 15/04/2012 16:16

Four minutes? YANBU. At least my hairdresser has the decency to wave the scissors about cut my hair for half an hour before robbing me blind.

mosschops30 · 15/04/2012 16:17

YANBU my hairdresser takes an hour for each client, just for a cut and blow dry, he takes ages but its good.
I would be seriously pissed off paying £60 for 16 minutes work and 46 minutes of my time

ABigGirlDoneItAndRanAway · 15/04/2012 16:20

YANBU, my hairdresser kept me waiting for nearly 45 minutes past my appointment time last time even though I was the first appointment of the day because she had been held up at the hairdressing supplies shop (my appointment wasn't until 10, surely the shop would have been open at 9 and she could have gone earlier) and then when she turned up she had her dog with her who she keeps crated in the salon through the day as she has nobody to watch it at home and she spent ages faffing about getting the dog settled in, very unprofessional and I won't be going there again.

helloclitty · 15/04/2012 16:21

It would seem every time I go to the hairdressers I duly turn up on time only to be kept waiting for bloody ages. Why is this?

OP posts:
MrsKittyFane · 15/04/2012 16:21

I've been to all kinds. One haidresser cut my hair without even combing it Shock and another dried each hair individually ( well it felt like it. I was there for hours).

helloclitty · 15/04/2012 16:22

Abiggirldoneit
That would really piss me off.

Thank you Grin
What happened at Headmasters?

Glad you did that, I have before walked pout but I was desperate today!

FredFredGeorge · 15/04/2012 16:25

YABU - If you liked the haircut that was produced, the result is all that should matter, the time it takes is surely irrelevant.

If cost was important, why did you go to a hairdresser that cost 60quid? If it was an experience you thought you were paying for, why did you pay it rather than say, sorry, I expected a better haircutting experience.

LineRunner · 15/04/2012 16:25

No hairdresser can even look at my hair without the seeming need to cut it shoulder length and blow dry it straight. This look lasts for precisely five minutes, when it goes all wavy again.

Oh, and the long side fringe that isn't a fringe that just gets in my face, what's that all about?

BackforGood · 15/04/2012 16:26

YANBU, other than to actually hand over that amount of money for a bit of a cut and then a blow dry.

ABigGirlDoneItAndRanAway · 15/04/2012 16:27

It did really piss me off, they even gave me a loyalty card with a stamp on it when I paid. I felt like throwing it back at her and telling her to fuck off but I managed to bite my tongue, she certainly won't be getting my money again that's for sure.

helloclitty · 15/04/2012 16:28

Fred

I am not bothered about paying £60 for a hair cut normally, I just expect firstly not to be kept waiting for half an hour and the cut to take more than 4 minutes.

OP posts:
Mrsrobertduvall · 15/04/2012 16:33

Shorter hair than I wanted.Bottom of ears on show. Sad
Hairdresser going choppy choppy with the scissors like Edward Bloody Scissorhands.
it will grow (mantra)

LesAnimaux · 15/04/2012 16:34

Was the cut what you wanted though? Was she like Edward scissor hands?

You shouldn't be kept waiting for 30 mins, but the length of time it takes to produce the perfect cut is not relevent. My hairdressers is some sort of magician who can produce the perfect blow dry in 6 mins flat. His juniors are in total awe (as am I).

ErikNorseman · 15/04/2012 16:34

YANBU!
My hairdresser charges about that much. He admitted to me that if he has clients with thin and short hair he spends a while fiddling around to make them feel like they get their money's worth Grin unlike my uber thick hair that really needs someone who knows what they are doing. Your hairdresser sounds negligent!

LesAnimaux · 15/04/2012 16:34

Ha, ha, X-posted Grin

helloclitty · 15/04/2012 16:38

mrsrobert Sad As you say it will grow.

lesanimaux The cut is OK, not great but not a disaster, although he didn't even ask where I parted my hair and started on the wrong side until I pointed it out. I know what you mean about fast hairdressers. I think it was just the stark contrast between the wait and the cut time.

OP posts:
helloclitty · 15/04/2012 16:41

Eriknorseman

I have extra thick hair, the type that takes three hours to highlight half a head and they always have to make up more tint! Grin
That's why I was like really that's it?

thenightsky · 15/04/2012 16:44

I used to go to a hairdresser who was infamous for keeping people hours. My appointment was 6pm. I got home at half-past midnight!

DH said 'don't tell me you've been getting your hair cut till this time', with this face Hmm

AwkwardMaryHadAnEasterLamb · 15/04/2012 16:46

YANBU of course. My fave hairdresser ever was in Camden when I lived there and he used to keep people for HOURS. He was always stoned and wanting to chat/show you things/sing a song together. Can't think how he paid the rent!

ErikNorseman · 15/04/2012 16:47

If you aren't happy with the cut then do go back to have it redone. Ask to speak to a head stylist and ask for an appointment when your original blokey isn't working! O reason why you should hand over £££ for a lacklustre cut.
