To think that 6.50am is too early for bell ringing?

I know, I know, we shouldn't have both a house three doors down from a church, but I was pregnant and we were desperate. This happens every Easter Sunday, and this morning it was over 100 bleeding chimes. They also do it late on Maundy Thursday (c. 9.30pm) when it also wakes my DCs. I've no objection to a bit of bell ringing, and on your average Sunday they keep it to a respectable 9.30am, but I think this is just too early!

Just as a matter of interest, where in the Bible are bells mentioned?

Exodus 28v35

'The sound of the bells will be heard when he enters the Holy Place before the LORD and when he comes out, so that he will not die.'

Ah, thank you. :)

I also miss the bells living in town. I'm not religious but I do rather enjoy the trappings of church like bell ringing, a good choral piece or an organ recital.

If it wasn't for the the actual being an atheist bit I'd probably quite like to join in with some of the rituals.

Bells here ring 7am every day but the ones that bother me more are the 3.30pm on a friday no idea why but they drive me nuts........

A few things:

  1. It's not SUCH A BIG ISSUE, just a minor irritation that the baby was up for the day at that point having been up throughout the night, as was the toddler, and I did point out in my OP I shouldn't have moved near a church, so I hold my hands up to that.
  1. We will be moving as soon as we can afford it. This is not to do with the church bells, just because we need more space!
  1. P.A. Happy Easter nots aren't very Christian IMO.

I did concede IWBU in good humour! [busmile]

Well, yes, YABU [bugrin]

I'm actually a bit [buenvy]

If I lived in somewhere like Kurdistan or somewhere I would love to hear the call to Mosque. Not that I'd be going to the Mosque.
