My quarterly statement is due and I'm currently sitting at £405 in credit...they mucked my meter readings up when I moved house so doubled my direct debit, just wondering if I could claw that back, since it's going into "summer" (currently snowing here!!) x

Good luck with that....:)

AgentZigzag · 03/04/2012 22:40

Bloody hell I would.

I've got them to credit my account when I had under £50 Grin

They did tell me off severely and put my DD up, but I just put it back down a couple of weeks later.

Wankers.

HarryRedknappsDog · 03/04/2012 22:41

I called them last week because we were £260 in credit and they refunded it straight away.

AgentZigzag · 03/04/2012 22:43

I can't see how they can refuse to give you your money back Confused

I'd probably go to OFGEN with that Harry.

And stop your DD?

xxmush1983xx · 03/04/2012 22:44

Fingers crossed then!

I think if I hadn't checked my meter readings properly there is no way I would be in this much credit, I gave them readings and they put estimated ones on my bill, about 300 units higher than what it should be grrrr.

BreeVanDerTramp · 03/04/2012 22:45

This happened to my dad and when they refused to refund he changed supplier so they lost a customer and had to issue refund!

Hassled · 03/04/2012 22:46

Oh we had this with Eon - £380 of OUR fucking money sat in their bank account. We rang up and were very very forceful indeed - and they threw all sorts of shit at us like "but it might be a really cold summer", but coughed up eventually. Just ring and say "give me my money" a lot.

xxmush1983xx · 03/04/2012 22:46

I was already in about £200 credit before I moved and wanted a refund to help with moving costs etc, but they said it would take a few weeks to come through so just left it, so can't imagine having any problem! But knowing my luck...

OP posts:
xxmush1983xx · 03/04/2012 22:48

That's the way I see it Hassled, it's MY money, EON has overcharged me, give me my money lol

OP posts:
HarryRedknappsDog · 03/04/2012 22:50

Like I said earlier, they gave us it back without any problems at all. Good luck.

AgentZigzag · 03/04/2012 22:57

Hehe, I read that as 'refused' harry Grin

I'm sure it only took us a couple of days to get the money credited to our account mush. 'A few weeks'? Cheeky buggers.

lolajane2009 · 04/04/2012 09:07

I wouldnt ask for it, i'd demand it and if they won't give you it i'd change supplier.

Smellslikecatspee · 04/04/2012 10:34

Go for it.

I've had this happen a few time as our DD was based on house size not num people living there. And that I'd rather put on a jumper etc.

Only once had a problem and my comeback was well if it is cold etc you can up my DD.

Why should they be getting intrest on my money?

Great customer service, Eon. I'm off to check my balance, now!

SmartiesMiniEggsRule · 06/04/2012 12:50

What a nice helpful man [busmile]

nickelhasababy · 06/04/2012 12:52

yes, tell them you want it to be paid back when your direct debits are reduced.

I know it's slightly different because I'm a business, but Eon has just sent me back a big credit, and reduced my dd at the same time. I didn't ask them to.

just ring them and ask.

catgirl1976 · 06/04/2012 16:51

Wow - what great service from Eon. You don't see that every day

Impressed

So how long do you think EON should take to refund, once they have agreed to do so? We are not talking a small amount (£700!)... who thinks that over 2 weeks with over 40 minutes in total on the phone is reasonable???Hmm

AgentZigzag · 16/05/2012 15:17

I got £100 back from them a couple of weeks ago Kath (and they dropped the dd by £35 a month Shock) I was prepared for a fight to get it, but they said OK straight away.

Money went into out account within a week I think.

Sounds like they're pissing you about.

Naoko · 16/05/2012 15:17

Oh christ don't get me started. I'm on a prepay meter. You'd think this sort of thing was impossible with one of those. Got a statement last November, I was £8 in credit. Shrugged it off because it wasn't much. Forward to March statement, I'm now £20 in credit. That's nearly a week's worth of electricity so I phoned up and asked what the deal was, they gave me a complicated spiel about discrepancies between the dates of the readings and the statement is actually sent out, I go fine, I've no idea what you just said but I'll take your word for it. They promise to send out an adjusted statement for the same period that'll square it all.

Adjusted statement comes - I'm now £43 in credit! I go wtf, phone them again, the lady says 'ah you phoned us last week because your statement shows you were in debt (?! won't believe me when I contradict her) but it's a discrepancy caused by your meter not picking up a change in the rates, that's not your fault so we refund people when that happens, yours must not've done it properly, I'll just take your reading now and see how much we owe you.' I give her the reading, she does some math, decides they owe me £24, and issue it as meter credit. Fine. They also promise to send out yet another adjusted statement.

That came on Saturday. It shows me being £73 in credit. I have lost the will to phone them again (because none of it makes any sense) and I'll see if it sorts itself out by the next scheduled statement, if not I'll brace myself for more phonecalls....

dontpetthesweatythings · 16/05/2012 15:45

I have just done the same with Eon. Called up to give them a meter reading and I have over £200 in credit. I just said great I will have that back please and they credit it to my account 6 days later.

They did wobble a bit with 'ooo but what if you go in to debit'. I just said no frigging way give it to me bitches :D

redyam · 16/05/2012 16:04

Switch to Scottish power. I had £300 in credit, I sent them an email and a few days later a bit fat cheque appeared. No problem AT ALL.

CrispyCod · 16/05/2012 16:13

I just said no frigging way give it to me bitches Brilliant GrinGrin
