it just looks so odd and wrong - is it just me or anyone else?

"I don't understand why you would put a baby in a garment designed to shield adult breasts from view, no."

I guess you don't put your children in any kind of top in the summer then.

lilbitneurotic · 30/03/2012 14:02

She only has the top on in 1 photo - I think she looks fine. Cute as a button in fact.

Bonsoir · 30/03/2012 14:03

Some of these threads about the rights and (much more usually) wrongs of certain items of clothing for little girls are beyond ridiculous. It seems to me that some posters are confusing "pretty clothes" with "sexualisation of little girls". It won't be progress if all that is available in the shops for little girls is gender-neutral clothing or chadors.

Pagwatch · 30/03/2012 14:06

Gosh, it's only March. These threads are normally much later in the year.

It really is an early summer.

ragged · 30/03/2012 14:06

meh, I think it's much more disgusting that the story is so fixated on how sexually attractive the mother is, showing so many high quality acres-of-skin and edge-of-breast shots of her from every angle. And even worse, there are people who really want to look at all that on a supposed News outlet website, and this isn't even supposed to be a porn site. The woman in the article has been reduced to eye-candy. Who is she? Does she have a celebrity reputation other than as eye-candy? Serious Yuck.

There are pictures of me wearing a bikini age 4 or 5. Doesn't mean anything.

HolyLentenPromiseBatman · 30/03/2012 14:06

I think it looks awful. I think any sort of bra on a baby is awful though.

SoupDragon · 30/03/2012 14:07

I look at baby girls in bikinis and think "cute bikini."

I don't think "thank goodness she has her nipples covered."
or "Why is she wearing that with no breasts?"

TBH I think there is more wrong about people making a fuss about it then there is about the bikini.

PosiePumblechook · 30/03/2012 14:07

Stupid bikini, stupid poses, stupid woman. I think the poses (slightly sexy arched back) are far more wrong than the baby's attire.

Pascha · 30/03/2012 14:08

Its not a bra! Its just some pretty (?!) material making a set. No more and no less.

Rosa · 30/03/2012 14:11

What about tankinis ? Swimming costumes etc ....MIne run round in bottoms only shock horror-- WIth suncream btw they get too hot in sunsuits and so I keep them for the UK !!!

Scholes34 · 30/03/2012 14:22

Not so much "wrong" more a "waste of fabric".

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 30/03/2012 14:23

Soup I totally agree with you!!

Thank goodness I dont have a daughter as according to a lot of MN'ers I would get it totally wrong!

uruculager · 30/03/2012 15:14

At least the Daily Mail didn't describe the Couch child as flaunting her bikini body or pouring her dangerous curves in to a barely there bikini or flaunting her enviable pins.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 30/03/2012 15:21

Nothing "wrong" with babies and small children in bikinis but little Sophia's looks a bit uncomfortable, the top half anyway. Can't believe how tall she is! Shock I know Abbey and Peter are both tall but still.

noddyholder · 30/03/2012 15:24

Envy her figure

Lueji · 30/03/2012 15:25

Fun in the sun: Abbey flicks her long blonde hair out of the way as she plays with Sophia Grin

The baby should be in a T-shirt, preferably UV proof.

Why are bikinis for babies even sold? Confused

MooncupandPizza · 30/03/2012 15:27

I agree with the OP,I personally don't like bikinis on little girls. I think "sexualisation of little girls" is taking it a bit far for this one but there is that suggestion. I prefer them in just bottoms or a one piece or whatever.

The bandeau style ones are a bit better but anything with 2 triangles/'cups' looks a bit wrong in my opinion.

RobinSparkles · 30/03/2012 15:33

Did anybody else Hmm at this bit - "Abby Crouch doesn't get much opportunity for a family holiday".

Oh do fuck off!

No views on babies wearing bikinis really. Some look cute, that one is vile!

qazxc · 30/03/2012 15:40

don't really see the point of the top half of the bikini. but it's only on one of the photos. Far more wrong is the isn't she great to be back to a size six a few weeks after having the baby (well 52 weeks if that kid is one, how many weeeks is a few?). I'm kind of sick of the value of someone being on how good skinny they look. and £178 on a bikini?

ariadne1 · 30/03/2012 16:09

I don't understand how it more wrong than a one piece swimming costume?

StealthPolarBear · 30/03/2012 16:12

shes had 5 holidays since last March!!

porcamiseria · 30/03/2012 16:13

hmm, think this is an easy target to stab a WAG non?

she is a little sweet chub and looks silly in that top, BUT I cant call it wrong

SoupDragon · 30/03/2012 16:16

I've just bothered to look at the photos - the baby's only wearing the top part in half the photos anyway!

Sheesh.

Psammead · 30/03/2012 16:17

Lots of babies and toddlers at the swimming pool we go to. Some just in swimming nappies, some in the nappies and shorts, some in costumes and some in bikinis. So what? They are all dressed for swimming. I personally would leave the top off my toddler because it looks a bit uncomortable, as this woman looks like he soon realised, but it's not 'wrong'.

jaffacakehips · 31/03/2012 09:50

Personally I prefer to see how the child in a UV top / suit. However I do suspect this is purely for that paps!
