How the bloody hell else are you supposed to pan or roast something! Winds me up.

OP posts:
SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/03/2012 13:28

Nooooo - please don't, Tee. There will be carnage, I tell you - carnage!!! Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/03/2012 13:30

And you are too young for such trauma!

Tee2072 · 28/03/2012 13:33

I'm not that much younger than you, SDT. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2012 13:34

oh yes- this makes me MAD

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2012 13:35

oh,and baked potatoes here too...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/03/2012 13:36

Hmm - I think I am too old to be glared at by my mum (or at least, too old to be reduced to a quivering wreck by it, anyway) but you are too young to suffer such trauma. I am now going to vanish under the weight of my own illogic!!

LimburgseVlaai · 28/03/2012 13:44

The one that gets me at the moment is "Tee" rather than t-shirt, or "Slouch" rather than baggy jumper. Does anyone actually use those words outside of a catalogue??

ivykaty44 · 28/03/2012 13:51

Fruity wine .... Its likely to be made of grapes, which are fruit

Then why do some red wines have a oak chip flavour or strawberry aroma - the wine isn't made of oak chips or strawberries?

Tee2072 · 28/03/2012 14:23

I thought you meant me, Limburg! I often refer to tees. Grin

Kennyp · 28/03/2012 14:26

I did say "likely" to be made of grapes and not just "made of grapes".

I stand by my baked potato's moniker of a baked potato. The expression "jacket with cheese" makes me think of a slow roasted, aromatic, oven baked yet still market fresh donkey jacket covered in cheddar, man vs food style.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2012 16:01

I get twitchy about 'mains' and 'sides'

Clownsarescary · 28/03/2012 16:06

Hand cut chips Confused

I know it means they haven't been cut in a machine, but it's still poncey to say it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/03/2012 16:10

hand fried even scarier

MoreBeta · 28/03/2012 16:14

I'm always suspicious about 'hand cut chips' because I'm sure that it could cover chips made in a machine that is powered by a human hand rather than cut with a knife in a human hand.

InWithTheITCrowd · 28/03/2012 16:37

My mum always says "egg omlette".
I love that.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/03/2012 16:41

"Freshly cut sandwiches"

The ones I saw were probably made three days before and cut into triangles when they were ordered Grin

Clownsarescary · 29/03/2012 00:17

Beta exactly Confused

Inwith pmsl very amused at egg omelette Grin

70 guess they were FRESH one day lol.

demisemiquaver · 29/03/2012 00:37

love this OP!
PAN fried :me and DH laugh at this too
JUS likewise
also SEA BASS
Singleton....I too loath MAINS [and MAYO]

CogitoErgoSometimes · 29/03/2012 07:14

YANBU... and can we get rid of the execrable 'jus'? And what the actual focaccia is 'foam' ...???? Looks like spit.

echt · 29/03/2012 07:27

Drizzled. FFS

StuckUpTheFezziwigTree · 29/03/2012 07:31

Soz but they ARE jacket potatoes. Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 29/03/2012 07:35

What is there to complain about with sea bass? Confused

Iamweasel · 29/03/2012 07:39

I agree
And 'hand made' artisan blah blah

Give me a nice hygienic, uniform machine over some spotty, grubby, bored hand assembler any day

MoreBeta · 29/03/2012 09:19

ivy - unfortunately a lot of Australian wines do have oak chips in. They make the wine in stainless steel industrial vats, chuck shovel loads of oak chips in then leave it to marinade for six months before bottling it instead of letting it mature slowly in oak barrels.

Low priced Australian wines are consistent and knocked French wines off the shelf but they do tend to be a bit 'hit you on the head' with their oaky fruitiness.

MoreBeta · 29/03/2012 09:20

I said 'marinade'. Shock

Sorry. Blush
