im having hellish fatigue and nausea , some days worse than others liek today I have literally been ill all day shaking, head hurts when I bend down etc. just a horrible grotty feeling.
Plus my feeling of complete failure when there are household chores I havent down and another day my son has spent inside because i'm physically not well enough.

I was wondering what people thought of my taking one paracetamol in the morning to kick in as soon as possible so I dont waste yet another day?

would this be dangerous or okay??

Is this happening every day? Do you know why? If not have you seen your GP?

DialMforMummy · 25/03/2012 15:31

You sound depressed OP. I'd speak to my GP.

Cheddars · 25/03/2012 15:33

Why do you feel like this? I can't imagine a paracetamol having much benefit tbh, it won't help with nausea.

Tee2072 · 25/03/2012 15:41

Do you have this for a reason, i.e. do you have a diagnosis?

I would see a GP before I would start medicating yourself.

Hoebag · 25/03/2012 15:45

im not depressed i'm pregnant

I've just realised I didnt put that in my OP Blush apologies

Do you mean is it dangerous because you are pregnant? If pregnant it is safe.
If not pregnant it is most definitely safe.
I think we need more info.

Ilovedaintynuts · 25/03/2012 15:47

Yes paracetamol is safe in pregnancy.

TheBigJessie · 25/03/2012 15:50

If you are considering taking it every day, long-term, you need to see a doctor about it.

Tee2072 · 25/03/2012 15:50

Yeah, that was an important thing to leave out! Grin

It is safe in pregnancy, but it won't do anything about the nausea. You probably should still go to your GP and see if they can help you with that.

Mrsjay · 25/03/2012 15:50

Paracetamol wont help your sickness at all and not sure about the groggyness either Its really for pain im not sure how it could help you ? apart from taking away your headache, How far along are you ?

Hoebag · 25/03/2012 19:37

very early on today is the worst day i've had where I've felt rough all day,

really rough.

I had very bad MS with my first was almost taken into hospital. of course you cant pamper yourself like u can with the second.

Can they do anything about morning sickness, I'm always scared of things like that, flidomyde always pops up in my head (sp.?)

DialMforMummy · 25/03/2012 19:46

Ok pregnant then!
Can you get some help with chores? Can you afford to get a cleaner for a bit? That could take the edge off, but otherwise I'd seek professional advice.

Hoebag · 25/03/2012 19:52

My OH does what he can but busy woking it just so hard im in so much pain, such a failure. :'(

dunno about a cleaner, I may consult a doctor about help regarding my pain/nausea/fatigue.

There are anti-sickness drugs you can take. Ondansetron in a drug that is rarely offered in the UK but frequently offered in the US. Well researched and although doesn't come 100% free of risk is pretty safe.

Hoebag · 25/03/2012 19:54

whats the risks?

OP posts:
Hoebag · 25/03/2012 19:54

if its rarely offered in the uk ill struggle to get it.

Hoebag - go to the GP and ask for anti emetics. These will help with the nausea.

This is what I have done - and as a previous hyperemesis sufferer (x4) I refused to let it get so far down the line this time. I started vomiting on the sunday, by monday I was at the GP demanding anti emetics - couldn't keep the buggers down though! By monday night I was on the gynae ward having IM medication. This IM stuff saved my life over dramatic much!. That monday I vomited 8 times, kept nothing down. I had the IM and was then able to take the oral stuff, with no vomiting for the next 48 hours. I am only vomiting minimally now, and can go a day without. The nausea is much more under control, and am eating very little, but very often. Yes I still feel shit and up and down, but I am functioning to a much better level than I have previously.

This is the best pregnancy I have had, and I will be 8 weeks tomorrow.

Please don't let yourself suffer.

cocolepew · 25/03/2012 19:55

Ginger, either tea or biscuits will help with your nausea, also sipping Lucozade and eating ready salted crisps helped me. Paracetamol will have no effect.

You can get medication to help with morning sickeness, but I think it's a last resort. I was hospitalised with both my pregnancies with morning sickness, if you need help you should take it whether it's your first or tenth pregnancy!

Hoebag · 25/03/2012 19:56

Oh good post detective are u in the Uk? are those offered readily?

I am always worried about risks but at the same time In need to be able to function ;(

whackamole · 25/03/2012 19:57

I took paracetamol every day from conception (approx!) to about 18 weeks. I just had a wicked headache every day. The doc said it was fine.

Don't know if it will help with the other issues though.

Ilovedaintynuts · 25/03/2012 19:57

If your GP does not think there is anything you can take for sickness ask to see an Obstetrician. There are a lot of myths about what you can/cannot take in pregnancy and sometimes GP's aren't the most knowledgable. Some Health care professionals have a ' it is better to take nothing' attitude and want to cover themselves. Understandable but unfair for the woman suffering.

cocolepew · 25/03/2012 19:59

If you take painkilers everydy, they can give you a headache Confused

Ilovedaintynuts · 25/03/2012 20:00

Ondansetron is readily available and you SHOULD be offered it. Side effects can be constipation and headache but in my experience most people get no side effects.

celebmum · 25/03/2012 20:00

I know where your coming from OP, I'm 10wks and have felt incredibly rough this time around, tiredness, sickness, nausea, weak feeling, headaches, boob ache, body aches etc I too have felt bad for DS as I e not been as active as usual Sad

I got some anti nausea tablets from my GP which have helped, I'm also trying (and often failingGrin) to eat well, fruit and yogurts etc. today helped in the garden enjoying the sunshine with DS, do you have a garden where you can be outside together? Take a few toys out of books and sit with some blankets if it's cool. You don't need to go trailing about.. Have butties for lunch in the garden Grin

If you do feel really bad tho, I would go and see your GP. Smile
