To think my mate is being overly sensitive about this facebook tag?

At the weekend I went out with the girls and a photo was taken where we all gave ourselves silly names. Mine was "morbidly obese" (I looked fat on it), my other friend was "aircraft carrier arse" and my other friend was "drag queen".

I tagged the photo on facebook with these names and whilst drag queen found it quite funny, aircraft arse is really offended by it and asked for it to be taken down (which I did). I then uploaded just a pic of me and drag queen and this friend has sent me a private message saying she wants me to take that down too, even though she's not in it as it makes her look bad for whinging about the other photo.

AIBU to tell her since she isn't in it, she can't dictate?

Maybe you should all grow up

OriginalJamie · 21/03/2012 17:25

I think people should ask before putting photos of anyone but themselves on FB. But I'm old-fashioned.

ViviPru · 21/03/2012 17:25

YABU for tagging with 'joke' names without being sure beyond any doubt that no one would take offence.

She BU for getting her knickers in a twist over the second photo.

Mark Zuckerberg IBU for enticing us all into this maelstrom of nonsense in the first place.

OriginalJamie · 21/03/2012 17:26

true, very true.

Dinosaurhunter · 21/03/2012 17:29

Give me strengh ........

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2012 17:34

I've just been discussing this on Facebook with my mates 'Bucket fanny' and 'Floppy tits'

They say YABU

LentillyFart · 21/03/2012 17:38

I do love a bit of well considered intelligently thought out erudite debate. Sadly there's none of that here but I need the opportunity to tell you to take yourself outside and kick yourself right up the arse for being a completely unfunny conehead. Thank you and good afternoon.

flipflopflap · 21/03/2012 17:40

She probably is being a bit over-sensitive but she can't ask you to take down a picture she isn't in. If you value your friendship though I probably would.

My friend often tags my name in pictures that I'm not in, mostly of pictures of odd-looking people or animals. I was a penguin-shaped bin once. I know it's a slightly different situation but (1) it's a joke, (2) people obviously can tell it's a joke and (3) it can be quite funny trying to guess what I'll end up as next! Yes I am a grown-up with a responsible job/life etc and I can totally see how people might take offence or just think it's a stupid thing to do but it just gives us both a little laugh sometimes and I don't see any problem with that.

IAmBooyhoo · 21/03/2012 17:43

haven't you got homework to be doing OP?

Meh Wink

BusinessTrills · 21/03/2012 21:48

She is BU to ask you to take down a picture that she is not in and makes no reference to her.

You were BU (and also being rather tasteless) to put up the picture of her with that "nickname".

McHappyPants2012 · 21/03/2012 21:54

yabu, don't share photos unless you get someone permission first.

Cherriesarelovely · 21/03/2012 22:26

I actually wouldn't put photos of people on fbook without asking them.

Pandemoniaa · 21/03/2012 23:56

The curse that is Facebook. Still at least you tagged her with a false name. Unlike the malign woman who chose to block me then tag me in the vicious diatribe she sent to all our mutual friends tonight. That's what I call unreasonable.

Floggingmolly · 22/03/2012 00:15

Beertricks Funny? Why?

spg1983 · 22/03/2012 00:19

Like I explained, a bit of light-hearted fun. Can understand why others don't think it is but we're all different :)

pictish · 22/03/2012 00:21

I hate hate hate people tagging photos of me on fb without checking first whether I want that image of me doing the rounds. This is due to being ugly self concious about my looks and generally taking terrible photos.

So yeah...ask first, tag second.

Starwisher · 22/03/2012 00:30

Yeah I love it when people publicly humiliate me with names like "the ugly fatty" on fb. It's such a laugh.

DumSpiroSpero · 22/03/2012 00:38

I'd be more upset if I was 'drag queen' tbh.

Funnily enough my DH posted a pic of his best mate last year at a sporting event. Mate was caught unawares at a very unflattering angle whilst scratching his arse!

He also asked DH to take it down (which he did).

It's not just us ladeez that can be a bit oversensitive! Grin

spg1983 · 22/03/2012 07:38

Molly, star-did you realise that we weren't talking about the OP's situation? beertricks was commenting on my first post in this topic. I really do think what my friend does can be a bit of a giggle and like I said I don't take any offence to it as it's really obvious that it's a joke tag. I don't see how there can be a problem with it if we're both ok with it?

Hebiegebies · 22/03/2012 07:47

It's a mine field and even if she is bslightlyu it's better to maintain the friendship and take it down
We have a saying among our friends, what goeson tour stays on tour. Eg what goes on while letting our hair down does not get shared with others afterwards, especially on Face book

This is especially true of nights out or weekends away when it is the girls only or boys only
